Motor Racing Legends, organizers of the Le Mans Legend, the historic race which takes place a few hours before the start of the Le Mans 24 Hours, have announced the eligibility criteria for entries in the 2005 event. On Saturday, June 18, 2005, Le Mans cars of 1935 to 1955 will run in a one-hour, two-driver race on the full 8.5-mile circuit.
Expect to see cars from the pre-war era—Alfa Romeo 6c and 8c, Lagonda, Bugatti and Delahaye—putting up a spectacular battle in their own classes. Meanwhile at the front of the grid will be the post-war cars—from Ferrari and Talbot Lago, to Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz. For many marques the era spans a range of models illustrating history in the making: Aston Martin fielded DB1, then DB2, DB3 and DB3S; meanwhile for Jaguar, the 1935 to 1955 period covered the XK120, through C-type to D-type. Look out, too, for less-familiar marques, such as Panhard, Jowett Jupiter, OSCA and Nardi.
