Masters Historic Racing has announced the latest addition to its event portfolio, the Masters Le Mans Legends, for all cars that were eligible to enter the 24 Hours of Le Mans between 1995 and 2011. With Le Mans-eligible racecars featuring at Europe’s premier venues, this is a unique new series that will give a home to the huge number of cars in existence.
The Masters Le Mans Legends series aims to attract sports-racing cars from the International Sports Racing Legends, the FIA Sports Car Championship, European Le Mans Series, American Le Mans Series, Intercontinental Le Mans Cup and Le Mans Endurance Series. Cars built to the earlier SR1 and SR2 regulations will be eligible, along with those meeting the subsequent LMP1 and LMP2 regulations, opening the new series to a vast number of race-ready chassis. In addition, there will be categories for IMSA sports cars as well as GT1 and GT2 from the equivalent period.
Only one race will be run in 2017, at Spa-Francorchamps on the weekend of September 15-17, with a full season of five or six events in 2018. The races will become part of the existing Masters Historic Racing structure and calendar.
Venues will be confirmed for 2018 based on suitability for the cars, but the intention is to run as part of the Masters schedule at circuits that currently host WEC and/or Formula One machinery. For complete information please visit www.mastershistoricracing.com
