The Chantilly Arts and Elegance Concours d’Elegance 2016 will be held 3-4 September in France on the grounds of the Domaine de Chantilly, located in the town of Chantilly between Calais and Paris. Held in Le Notre gardens in the Chateau in Chantilly, the Peter Auto-organised Concours will bring together more than 100 cars divided into fourteen classes.

Similar to 2014 and 2015, the 2016 edition of the Chantilly Arts and Elegance will again consist of three judged events – a Concours d’Etat for classic cars, a modern car Concours d’Elegance and a competition for the invited car clubs on the quality of their presentation, the diversity and the originality of the models presented. The weekend also included a rally through the scenic Chantilly and Selis countryside.

A wide-ranging period of the history of the motor car will be covered as a class will be devoted to steam cars, a major technological innovation that revolutionised 19th century society. The class illustrating the beginnings of pre-war aerodynamics will transport the public into the 20th century, the era when the motor car reached its apogee, in which the sports car speeded up technological progress.

Four classes, one of which will celebrate the fabulous career of one of the most famous and most-titled French team managers, will be devoted to competition cars of the last century: Bugatti, the grand prix cars, front-engined F1s, the cars of the Tour de France Automobile (1951-1986) as well as a special homage to Jean Todt’s exceptional 50-year career.

In 2016 the creations of the famous Italian coachbuilder, Zagato, will also be celebrated with two classes: pre- and post-war. Less sporty but exceptional original cars will have the categories Unusual Coachwork (wood, cloth, wickerwork) reserved for them plus imposing long-distance saloons and limousines in their original state, as well as chefs d’oeuvre of French coachwork. And to cap it all there is a class for English makes that have vanished and one for V12 and V16-engined American cars which will be on display in the Concours d’Etat.

A day dedicated for these cars, mixing scenic drives on open roads, a dedicated hill climb on a secured course (no timing) and sessions on the Mortefontaine private road course and high-speed oval test track. A lunch shared with the participants of the Chantilly Arts & Elegance Tour Rally, prelude to the Concours d’Etat, will complete this day, punctuated by a breakfast and an afternoon cocktail hosted in the Chantilly Estate.
