Vernasca Silver Flag 2011 Information

Ferrari 500 TRC at Vernasca Silver FlagThe 16th annual Vernasca Silver Flag will be held June 24-26, 2011 near Vernasca, Italy. The Vernasca Silver Flag is a 8.5 km hill climb organised by the Piacenza Historic Cars & Motorcycle Club. The event is dedicated to racing cars built until 1975.
Following the tradition of commemorating a particular event or character of motorsport historical value (such as the 75 racing Abarth in 2010), the Vernasca Silver Flag 2011 will honour Ferrari, in collaboration with the Galleria Ferrari and the Ferrari Club of Italy.
Because Piacenza and its country have joined the Modenese manufacturer with Bobbio-Penice, the Enzo Ferrari last victory in 1931 as a pilot , with the circuit of Piacenza, where he debuted on the “Circuit of Piacenza” with the first Ferrari car built on 11 May 1947 with the Franco Cortese pilot.
And in 2011 our relationship will become even more firmly in mind the sixtieth anniversary of the first Grand Prix victory for a Formula 1 Ferrari at Silverstone in July 1951 obtained with Froilan Gonzales.
The Vernasca Silver Flag 2011 officially kicks-off on Saturday morning at 10.30 when the first batch of cars will officially open the “Dynamic restoration and conservation concourse for competition cars”, better known as the Vernasca Silver Flag. Apart from Ferrari competition cars, vehicles will be divided into the traditional hillclimb groups, by types of participants: Touring, GT, Sports cars up to 1961, Prototype sport cars, Front engine Single-Seaters, Rear Engine Single-Seaters, Pre-war period cars.
