Imagine that you are a gamekeeper and you notice suspicious characters with flashlights on your estate at four in the morning. Naturally, you assume they are poachers, so you creep up, using all your skills of stealth. The last thing you expect to find is a bunch of grown men with a soapbox cart.

But that is exactly what happened on the Goodwood Estate a few weeks before the Festival of Speed. A team from Prodrive, the world’s leading rally car preparation specialist, had set off at midnight so they could undertake secret testing prior to the Goodwood Soapbox Derby.
