2 The first road races are held through the streets of Watkins Glen, New York. They are also the first post-WWII races held in the United States and the first SCCA-sanctioned road races. Frank Griswold, driving an Alfa Romeo 2900B, wins both races, the Grand Prix and the Junior Prix (1948).
