VR: How did The Grand Ascent and The Elegance come about?

MR: About four years ago, I approached my father (Jack Rich, a long time collector who passed away in December 2011) about putting on an event to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). I have diabetes, and I wanted to support the research. He initially thought it was a crazy idea. He attended a lot of events and saw how difficult it was to put one on.
