I’ve written in these pages before about my belief that the steering wheel holds a special place in our automotive lives. More than just the nexus between man and machine, the steering wheel is both the visual and tactile focus of our automotive experience. A never-ending circle—symbolically eternal like a wedding band—the steering wheel embodies both our physical and emotional connection with the automobile.

Of all the innumerable automobiles I’ve either owned or driven over the past four decades, there has been one, specific type of steering wheel that has always given me the greatest sense of driving satisfaction—those that bear the Nardi name. No, this isn’t a paid plug for Nardi steering wheels. This is just honest praise for a seemingly simple device, that one man has elevated to another level.
