Kas Kastner enjoyed a long and distinguished career in American motorsports, to the point that each year a group of Triumph vintage racers present a deserving competitor with the Kastner Cup in his honor. Now it seems turnabout is fair play, as the TR Register and the Standard Triumph Forum have voted to present their Harry Webster Memorial Trophy for 2016 to…Kas Kastner.
Webster was a career employee of the Triumph works who had an involvement in every car that rolled down the production line during his tenure. When he passed away in 2007 the TR Register decided to honor his contributions with this perpetual award.
In the release announcing the award, the Register wrote: “It is our great pleasure to make the 2016 award to someone who has been so instrumental in the race history of the Triumphs in the United States of America since the early 1960s, both as a driver and with the development of the performance of standard production cars and as an author of many books on the subject.”
