This year’s Eighth Annual Lake Mirror Classic, to be held October 19–20 in downtown Lakeland, Florida, will honor the racecars and career of Sir Stirling Moss.
Primary-sponsor Mercedes-Benz and event organizers expect to welcome more than 500 cars—including Concours d’Elegance beauties, classic American musclecars, and vintage sports and racecars, plus classic wooden boats and antique motorcycles. Sir Stirling Moss, motor racing’s senior statesman, will be present and will serve as the 2007 Honorary Chairman.
Event founder and chairman Ford Heacock is gathering a select group of racecars to honor and represent Moss’s amazing racing career. Included in this group will be The Collier Collection’s 1957 Cooper Climax, type 43, the car Moss drove to victory in the 1958 Argentine Grand Prix, ushering in the beginning of the rear-engine era in Grand Prix racing.
