The Motorsports Hall of Fame of America has announced that this year’s class of inductees will include Indy 500 winner and U.S. National Champion Danny Sullivan, legendary engine builder Ed Pink, five-time Le Mans winner and two-time Sportscar World Champion Derek Bell, famed hot rodder Vic Edelbrock, motocross great Ricky Johnson, NASCAR Alabama Gang member Neil Bonnett and motorcycle pioneer Floyd “Pop” Dreyer. The Hall’s 24th Annual Induction Ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, August 29 at the Fillmore Theater in Detroit.
Hall President Ron Watson also confirmed that the organization is presently reviewing several proposals to house the Hall and its collection of memorabilia and racing machinery in a new location. Its current home, the Detroit Science Center, has been closed since late last year due to the economic downturn. Several groups and organizations from around the country have, however, shown interest in housing the MSHF, and an announcement of a new location could be made at August’s induction ceremony.
