HSR-West recently announced the creation of a four-race Challenge Series for 2-Liter Sports Racers. According to HSR-West President Ed Swart, the series will be open to all eligibile FIA sports racers built between 1968 and 1979 that are running a 2-liter engine.
Cars will be broken down into two classes, depending on specification. Class 3C/A will include 1968-1973 cars that lack wings and are not of monocoque construction. Cars eligible for this class include the Chevron B8/16/19-23, Lola T210-212, Porsche 906/908/910 and Abarth 2000SP, among others.
Class 3C/B will be for cars manufactured between 1974-1979 that feature wings and monocoque construction. This class includes the Chevron B26/31/36, Lola T292/294/296/298, March, Osella, TOJ and Sauber.
Challenge races are scheduled in conjunction with HSR-West club races at Sears Point, Phoenix, Thunderhill and Willow Springs.
Each class will run for its own points, which will be given for participation, fastest qualifying and finishing order for the top four in each class. Results of the best three-out-of-four events will count towards the end-of-the-year championship. The winner in each class will be awarded tow money and a free entry for the HSR Daytona event in December. For more information contact Ed Swart at (310) 530-9731, (310) 530-9786 (FAX).
