For many racers and fans the 1950s harbor a very special place in their hearts, if for no other reason than this was one of the most active, dynamic periods in American road racing. Road racing was accessible to almost anyone with a car at this time and since few, if any, Americans had any road racing experience prior to the war, it was a virtually level playing field for anyone with the inclination to try.
