Cooling Down

The Scene: The #25 factory BMW CSL is well known for its rich racing history and many race wins. Epic battles took place between this car and the Brumos Porsches driven by the late Peter Gregg (who also drove the CSL). Sam Posey, Hans Stuck, Dieter Quester and David Hobbs all enjoyed much success with the factory team during the old IMSA days in the Camel GT series.

Beginning in 1975, artist Montanari has logged many fond memories of watching the team at Lime Rock Park, his home track. The shrill bark of the dual overhead cam in-line 6-cylinder bellowing through the canyon-like back straight, up into the Climbing Turn, West Bend, under the bridge and down into the Diving Turn onto the Main Straight, hard on the binders into Big Bend and then the Esses left him with an indelible sensory memory.
