Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) released their 2011 vintage race calendar, which calls for seven events with two visits to Sebring and Watkins Glen, in addition to Roebling Road, Mid-Ohio and New Jersey Motorsports Park.
The two races at Road America – Vintage GT Challenge and Kohler International Challenge with Brian Redman – were canceled, in addition to the Gold Cup at VIR and the season-ending race at Road Atlanta.
SVRA released the following statement regarding their reduced schedule in 2011:
Since the U.S. economy continues to struggle, SVRA has decided to drop a few unprofitable track dates for 2011. Our goal for 2011 and beyond is to focus our energies and resources on the events management believes are in the best long-term interests of SVRA’s financial stability.
Events like the Gold Cup or BRIC/KIC are not really SVRA events; they are track-managed events where SVRA has little or no control over pricing, costs, parties, car classes or quality control. This improved schedule will assure that SVRA will be able to continue to provide Safe Fair Fun for its members.
