• Plans are proceeding for the re-paving and re-opening of the historic road course at Thompson International Speedway in Thompson, Connecticut. The venue, when used as a road course, will be primarily for club events with groups such as the SCCA, PCA and BMWCCA, as well as high-performance driving schools, corporate outings and testing. The repaving will upgrade the track’s degraded asphalt while also improving its safety barriers, overall facilities and general amenities. • The Historic Motor Sports Association (HMSA) will celebrate the life of automotive entrepreneur Martin Swig, who passed away last July, with its Spring historic race event on March 23-24 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Swig, who created the California Mille among other events and has been called the quintessential West Coast car guy, will be remembered for his many contributions to the sport, his unbridled love for automobiles and his passion for driving.
