Vintage racer Dino Crescentini, from Rochester Hills in suburban Detroit, was killed when his Wolf-Dallara Can-Am car crashed during the 29th Vintage Automobile Association of Canada Festival at Mosport on June 22. According to various reports, Crescentini’s car apparently lost its front downforce while following closely behind another car on Mosport’s uphill Andretti Straight, resulting in a fatal series of flips and rolls.
Crescentini’s car had been originally owned by Canadian industrialist and sportsman Walter Wolf, and at one point was driven by the legendary Gilles Villeneuve. Crescentini, reportedly in his early 60s, had been racing vintage cars for a decade, and was also a member of the bobsled team from the Republic of San Marino at the 1994 Winter Olympics.
