When people learn that I write about motor racing, they assume I am always jetting off to exotic locations. I have to tell them that I am not a reporter but a feature writer with a special interest in the motor racing industry and, therefore, I have a sound working knowledge of industrial estates.
In England, there are two main areas for factories, Surrey, the county due south of London, and the area between Oxford and Northampton. The Surrey connection goes back to the fact that the Brooklands track was there and it attracted people with a can-do attitude.
