A 1963 Shelby AC Cobra 289 factory race car will be featured at Russo and Steele’s upcoming “Sports and Muscle in Scottsdale” auction on January 14-18, 2009.
Shelby AC Cobra CSX 2009, one of the first Shelby American/Holman Moody/Ford factory team cars, was driven by Augie Pabst, Peter Jopp, Tom Payne, Gene Fisher and Dick Stockton during the 60s and early 70s. While there were DNFs at Nassau Speed Weeks and the 12 Hours of Sebring, it found later success as SCCA Northeast Division B Production champion from 1967-1970.
CSX 2009 also took top honors in the 289 Cobra class at the 2007 SAAC national convention, as well as many magazine and book features.
In addition to the Cobra, the 9th annual Russo and Steele Scottsdale auction will again field a distinct group of European cars, American muscle, hot rods and customs in their unique and lively no-reserve auction format.
