Gooding & Company announced the consignment of 50 automobiles from the renowned Michael Schudroff Collection, the majority of which will be sold without reserve at its annual Pebble Beach Auctions on August 15 and 16, 2009.
Consisting of fifty post-war automobiles, the collection focuses on both rare European coachbuilt sports and luxury cars and top of the line American cars. Every car is of exceptional quality, and nearly every example is either exceedingly original or restored to outstanding Concours quality standards.
The Schudroff Collection is in addition to Ettore Bugatti’s personal car – the 1938 Bugatti Type 57C Coupe, and the Don and Joan Lyons Collection of important historical racecars, which will also be sold without reserve at Gooding & Company’s upcoming auction.
Michael Schudroff’s many years in the fine automobile business have given him an exceptional eye for quality. In fact, he was the world’s largest factory authorized Rolls-Royce and Bentley dealer for over ten years. His passion for excellence and interest in the people and stories associated with cars are reflected in his spectacular private collection – every car is either in outstanding original condition or has been lovingly restored with an extraordinary attention to detail. This stunning collection of post-war cars contains some of the most exclusive, low-production automobiles, one-off designs and highly optioned classics.
“Michael Schudroff’s passion for collecting the absolute finest examples he could find has resulted in a collection that is without rival. I have never seen a collection of post-war cars that was so remarkable. Michael’s discriminating eye and knowledge led to amassing a true connoisseur’s collection.”
Highlights include two fabulous Bertone-bodied Aston Martins, the incomparable Pininfarina Corvette “Rondine”, one-off Alfa Romeos, extraordinary examples of the rare Dual-Ghias and Facel-Vegas, and a group of highly original survivors that includes a Chrysler Town & Country Convertible, a Plymouth Superbird and a 427 Corvette. There are also a number of outstanding Ferraris, Rolls-Royce, Mercedes-Benz and Bentleys, all of which will be offered without reserve. With such a diverse grouping of high-quality cars being offered without reserve, it makes for an exciting opportunity for collectors.
