Royal Automobile Club Concours Sparkles

Lamborghini, Bentley and Jaguar take top honors

Exclusive summer event at Woodcote Park highlights sensational winners

The second Royal Automobile Club Concours was built on the success of its award-winning debut, showcasing an exceptional collection of rarely seen cars and motorcycles at Woodcote Park.

Seven judged classes were assessed by a panel including renowned designers Ian Callum CBE and Peter Stevens, as well as television presenter Richard Hammond. Category winners ranged from a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.8 RSR Targa Florio winner and a 1985 Lamborghini Countach 5000 QV to a 1932 TT-winning Rudge 500cc motorcycle once owned by Murray Walker.

Among the standout category winners were a Lamborghini 400 GT for best V12-powered car and a Bentley Speed Six as the top pre-war entry. Special awards went to a 1926 Amilcar CO Martin Le Mans, which claimed The Macallan Spirit of the Show, while Chairman Duncan Wiltshire selected a 1970 Plymouth Superbird as his Chairman’s Choice.

The coveted Best in Show award was presented to a 1953 Jaguar C-type. Originally campaigned in Finland, later repainted British Racing Green by the Moores family, and eventually restored to its original Finnish racing colors by owner Tony Purnell, the Jaguar impressed the judges with its history and presentation.

Anniversary displays celebrated Mercedes-Benz, Daimler, Lagonda and Lancia, while a tribute to Sir Henry Segrave featured the 1926 Sunbeam ‘Tiger’ that set a 152mph Land Speed Record.

The event also marked the centenary of Britain’s first Grand Prix at Brooklands with a display spanning 100 years of Grand Prix history, from a factory Delage entered in the 1926 race to the 2025 McLaren Formula 1 car driven by Oscar Piastri at the Singapore Grand Prix, where the team secured the Constructors’ Championship. The Royal Automobile Club Trophy, presented to the British Grand Prix winner, was also displayed bearing the name of last Sunday’s winner, Charles Leclerc.

Other highlights included the world premiere of the one-off Daytona Shooting Brake Hommage by Niels van Roij Design and RM Sotheby’s Summer Sale of 44 collector cars, held on the adjoining Cedar Lawn.
