The RM Auctions Monterey 2013 auction will be held August 16th and 17th at the Portola Hotel and Monterey Convention Center in Monterey, California. RM’s 28th annual flagship two-day Monterey sale will feature 120 vehicles, with 25 cars estimated to sell in excess of $1 million and five estimated to bring more than $4 million.

Headline consignments at the 2013 RM Auctions Monterey sale include the 1953 Ferrari 375 MM Spider by Pinin Farina; 1955 Jaguar D-Type; one-owner 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4*S N.A.R.T. Spider;

RM Auctions will also present a series of eight Ferraris from the Estate of the late William H. Tilley, a Beverly Hills-based collector and Ferrari aficionado. All offered without reserve, the group is highlighted by a Ferrari Classiche-certified 1954 Ferrari 500 Mondial Spider Series I by Pinin Farina, chassis 0418MD. One of 22 examples built, it competed in the Mille Miglia before being sold by the factory and remained competitive throughout the following decades both in North American and European events. The Tilley Collection, which spans more than 55 years of Ferrari production, also features a 1970 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Berlinetta, a 1972 Ferrari 365 GTC/4, a 1979 Ferrari 308 GTS, a 1987 Ferrari Testarossa, a 1990 Ferrari F40, a 2002 Ferrari 360 Spider F1 and a 2010 Ferrari California.

Porsches are also featured at this year’s RM Monterey sale, with 12 on offer such as the 1977 Porsche 934.5; 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Touring; 1976 Porsche 935 IMSA; 1985 Porsche 959 ‘Vorserie’, 1986 Porsche 962 and a selection of 356 and 911 models. In 2012, RM Auctions offered 119 automobiles for sale, with 106 finding a new owner, reflecting a 89.1% sell-through rate. Total sales volume was $95,739,150, inclusive of buyer’s premiums. The average price per car sold was $903,200. Top sale went to the 1968 Ford GT40 Gulf / Mirage Lightweight Racing Car at $11,000,000, followed by the 1962 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder at $8,580,000 and the 1955 Ferrari 410 S Berlinetta at $8,250,000. The RM Auctions Sports and Classics of Monterey event returns to the Portola Hotel and Monterey Convention Center, August 16-17, 2013.
