The Artcurial Motorcars sale at Rétromobile on February 3, 2012 set a record for an auction in France with an impressive sell-through of 90% for a total of € 14.5 million. More than 100 cars crossed the block over the course of five hours with the ex-Roger Vadim 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spyder bringing almost a third of the night’s overall take at € 4,507,100. Strong prices were seen across the board with a 1913 Delaunay Belleville Type O6 8-liter selling for € 471,800 and a 1938 Horch 853 Cabriolet bringing in € 408,900. As expected, French marques attracted significant attention with a 1972 Citroën DS23ie Pallas hammered at twice the high estimate for € 187,000 and an as new 1965 Citroën 2CV AZAM with only 116 miles on the odometer changing hands at € 59,600. With a 1956 Ferrari 250 GT Boano changing hands for € 477,500 and a 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Cabriolet B selling at € 494,600 it was clear that any concerns of a possible auction downturn on the continent were unfounded on this special night.
