A selection of 115 classic cars worth more than €20 million in total will be offered at the Coys Techno Classica Essen auction this weekend, March 24, at Messe Essen, Norbertstraße 2, 45131 Essen, Germany. Some 115 cars will cross the auction block there, headed by a 1967 Lamborghini Miura SV that could fetch as much as €1,500,000.
The Miura was delivered new to Portugal in 1967 and subsequently converted by the factory to full SV specification in 1974. The conversion is documented with period correspondence and invoices. The car was fully restored in 2008, with further work being completed by a UK marque specialist in recent times. Finished in Arancio orange, it is a beautiful example of the genre-defining supercar of the 1960s.
The sale will also feature a 1928 Bugatti T44 Fiacre By Gangloff (above, photo courtesy of Coys), a very rare survivor of only a handful remaining models, which was once owned by the well-known collector and author of many Bugatti books, Mr. Uwe Hucke. He kept chassis No. 441141 until 1977, when he sold it to Mr. Helmut Schellenberg, the famous 1930s Bugatti racing driver.
For the historic racing collector, Coys is offering at no reserve a 1936 Brooke E.R.A. Monoposto. This hugely famous pre-war racing car, with Brooklands and Grand Prix history, comes complete with the original 1936 Bedford WS race transporter and a comprehensive spares package.
Among the German gems on offer will be a 1952 Porsche 356 Pre-A 1500 Coupe. This model was comprehensively restored and is one of the first one-piece “Bent” windscreen and synchronized transmission examples. Other desirable cars going under the hammer include: a 1957 AC Ace competition car with period race history in the USA and Germany; a 1978 Lamborghini Espada Series III; a 1937 Cord 812 Supercharged Cabriolet; a 1967 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 Series II in rare Rosso Cordoba; a recently restored left-hand-drive 1957 Aston Martin DB2/4; and a 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GT.
