Petersen Automotive Museum Wins Digital Media Award

Museum's digital footprint embraces Social Media and Podcasts with 1.5M+ followers

The Petersen Automotive Museum received the Digital Media of the Year Award at the 2025 International Historic Motoring Awards ceremony at The Peninsula London Hotel on Friday, Nov. 14. Executive Director Terry L. Karges accepted the award on behalf of the museum, which was recognized for the best use of digital media in the collector car world over the past year.

“This is universally considered to be the most prestigious recognition for the world’s collector car community and we are deeply honored to be recognized for our storytelling through digital media,” said Karges. “It’s a wonderful testament to the hard work of our dedicated team and the museum’s ongoing commitment to engaging and educating our guests in new and innovative ways.”

Los Angeles’ preeminent automotive museum was lauded for its unique approach to social and digital media, which reaches more than 1.5 million social media followers across multiple channels. The museum’s digital team produces content for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X and YouTube, as well as its in-house “CarStories Podcast,” which highlights events and exhibits at the museum and provides educational content along with in-depth explorations of some of the most significant cars and individuals in automotive history. The museum’s website and email marketing campaigns also offer in-depth information and updates for visitors and car lovers alike.

With annual attendance projected to exceed 450,000 visitors this year, a new record for the institution, and over 4,000 members from around the world, the museum has established its ability to resonate with diverse audiences and has become an integral part of the automotive community.

Since 2011, the International Historic Motoring Awards have recognized exceptional individuals, events and places that best exemplify the passion and culture of classic car collecting. The car community nominates contenders for each of the HMA’s 15 categories, which are then voted on by a panel of distinguished experts, including Peter Wallman, Donald Osborne and Sandra Button.
