In response to the appearance of numerous “family” entries for its two-driver historic races, Motor Racing Legends, in association with Blakeney Motorsport, has established The Blakeney Motorsport Trophy to encourage such participation.
Confirming that his organization has received a number of not only family entries, but multi-generational pairings, MRL’s Duncan Wiltshire said: “We’ve even seen grandfather and grandson teaming up, and we’d like to see more of it. What better reason could there be to team up with your nearest and dearest? It’s clearly time to kick out that professional hot shoe you were planning to hire and get granddad back on the track.”
The new Blakeney Motorsport Trophy will be awarded annually to the driver pairing representing two generations of the same family that, in the opinion of the organizers, best exemplifies the spirit of historic racing. Factors taken into consideration will be success on the track, exemplary driving, and enthusiastic participation, as well as genuine period machinery.
