Mecum Auctions will stage their top fall auction event on October 25-27, 2012, at the Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, Illinois.

Chicagoland’s only collector car auction, the Mecum 2012 Fall Premier Auction will present nearly 1,000 vehicles for sale over three big days, headlined by a selection of collector muscle cars and Corvettes crossing the block.

Headlining this year’s auction will be a 1954 Chevrolet Corvette Drag Car (Lot S148) famously known as “The Pizza Man”, which tore up drag strips across the Midwest and at national events from 1962 to 1971 at the hands of owner/driver Earl Britt, proprietor of Earl’s Pizza Palace in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Along the way it earned the title of “World’s Fastest Six Cylinder Corvette”, compiling a career as a 9-time NHRA record holder and 3-time NHRA World Champion.

Prominent Chicago-area collector Mike Guarise will offer a collection of classic GM muscle cars all finished in GM code 75 Red. All magazine cover feature cars, the “Red Cover Girls” collection comprises three treasures from the 1970 model year: Lot S151, a Cranberry Red Chevrolet Chevelle SS454 LS6; Lot S152, a Matador Red Oldsmobile 442 W-30 4-speed Sports Coupe, one of just 142 built, and Lot S153, a Cardinal Red Pontiac GTO packing a 455 CI V-8 4-speed drivetrain using SD internals. According to Guarise, they are in beautiful as-original condition and equipped with “all the right options and none of the wrong ones.”

Other notable offerings include the 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302 Fastback (Lot S102), 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 (Lot S81), 1949 MG TC (Lot F200) and the 1994 America’s Most Beautiful Roadster Award-Winning 1929 Infiniti Q29 Flyer Roadster (Lot S166).
