The organizers of the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion have announced that Jaguar will be the featured marque for this year’s event, scheduled for August 19–21 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. This will be the third time in the 38-year history of the event that Jaguar has been honored as the featured marque, joining Ferrari, Porsche and Alfa Romeo as the only carmakers in that lofty category.
The occasion will help celebrate both the 60th anniversary of the Jaguar C-Type’s 1951 victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 50th Anniversary of the launch of the E-Type, perhaps the most iconic Jaguar of all.
“The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion is hallowed ground for automotive racing aficionados, and thus a very meaningful place to celebrate the Jaguar E-Type’s 50th Anniversary,” said Richard Beattie, Executive Vice President Marketing and Sales Jaguar North America. “Today, as much as 50 years ago, high performance, racing and stunning design are integral to the Jaguar brand. At the Reunion we will give enthusiasts a chance to take a look back and forward at all three of these elements in Jaguar’s sensational cars.”
As many as 550 entries are expected to be received for this year’s Reunion, with 17 separate Race Groups established for entries ranging from pre-1940 Sports Racing and Touring Cars, through sports racing and GT cars of the ’50s and ’60s, Trans-Am and IMSA GT machines, all the way up the competitive ladder to
3-liter Formula One cars and the earth-shaking Can-Am machinery that enjoyed minimal regulation and produced astounding speed from cars that were faster than any others during their nine years in the spotlight.
