The Carrera Panamericana; Mexico, November 19–23, 1952. Giovanni Bracco stops at a refueling point just before the start of the seventh leg at Parral with his Ferrari 250 Sport. This same car and driver had also won the Mille Miglia earlier in the year. Bracco led almost the entire race before retiring on the last leg, leaving victory to the Mercedes 300SLs. The Ferrari 340 America at the right was driven by Jack McAfee to an excellent 5th place overall. The man in the light-colored cap standing just by the right front fender of Bracco’s car is Umberto Maglioli who finished 25th with his Lancia B20. Photo by Gunther Molter.
