Barrett-Jackson, WestWorld, Scottsdale, January 14-22, 2017

Any Barrett-Jackson auction is a spectacle, but none of them are as spectacular as WestWorld in January.

This is where it started over four decades ago and where the Barrett-Jackson ‘event’ format first took shape. The size, scope and diversity is breathtaking and no one who loves cars should let an opportunity to visit slip by. It runs for eight days and, honestly, it takes two of them just to walk through and take the measure of the auction cars, exhibitors, entertainment, vendors and the crowds, many of whom don’t have a clue what they’re looking at in the preview areas and lineup.

That sounds a little condescending, but drawn to Barrett-Jackson by the hype and the television, the ignorance of many of the day-trippers is one of Barrett-Jackson’s strengths: it draws new people into the stream of car collecting, imparts a sense of the hobby’s allure and builds anticipation for more involvement.

Attendance seemed to be off from last year, not helped by chilly, wet weather that may have kept on-site spectators back in the motel watching on television while gorging on Long Wong’s Wings instead of braving the elements for their entire time in Scottsdale.

Even in my 26th year at WestWorld I wasn’t immune and nearly came home with a telescoping flag pole (with solar powered light.) Consumption is the underlying concept; what’s a few hundred dollars at an event where millions are in play?

This year saw the largest consignment ever at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale. Although the average and median transactions were lower than the last few years the sale exceeded $100 million, at $101.5 million, 0.9% below last year.

As usual, some results were low, some were high and most were just right as even in the high pressure, TV cameras in bidders faces, environment of the Barrett-Jackson auction block bidders by and large made intelligent decisions about values.

Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale is an event not to be missed and its makeup and success is a strong indicator of the health and prospects of the collector car hobby. All indications from WestWorld 2017 are good with healthy but not exuberant prices and plenty of money being spread around.

Here are the numbers:

Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2017 – Auction Report

1956 Morris Minor Traveler Station Wagon
Lot # 179 1956 Morris Minor Traveler Station Wagon; S/N FLJ4643224; Pistachio, Wood/Dark Green vinyl piped in Light Green; Older restoration, 2- condition; Hammered Sold at $14,500 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $15,950. No Reserve – Hub caps, banjo steering wheel, bucket seats. – From the Charlie Thomas collection. Very good older paint. Wood has a few cracks and there are panel fit issues. Wood finish is a little tired overall. Interior is excellent and like new. Sign on the dash that says ‘no brakes’, so we can assume a service is in order. Clean restored underneath. Restored a while ago. Not a show car, but gorgeous from a short distance and has even more charm/character in these bright colors. – Sold at Spring Auburn in 2014 for $22,550 and here two years ago in 2015 for $22,000, it fell under the radar today and represents a particularly good value for the new owner even with the needed work on the brakes (and no doubt other things.) A little attention will result in a nearly pristine and highly charismatic weekend driver.
1952 Willys Aero Ace 2-Dr. Sedan
Lot # 262 1952 Willys Aero Ace 2-Dr. Sedan; S/N 652MA116640; Green, White roof/Gray, Tan cloth; Unrestored original, 3+ condition; Hammered Sold at $13,500 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $14,850. No Reserve – Wheel covers, Firestone whitewalls, overdrive, hood ornament, amber driving lights, bench seat, column shift, pushbutton radio. Wheel covers, Firestone whitewalls, overdrive, hood ornament, amber driving lights, bench seat, column shift, pushbutton radio. – Originally sold in New Mexico. Unrestored original showing 28,443 probably original miles. Serviced in 2015. Long time stored. Rub through above the left headlight. Very light pitting on the headlight bezels. The rest of the brightwork is a tad dull. Some very light oxidation underneath but nothing bad. Window gaskets are cracking. Remarkably good interior. This one has to be one of the best if not the best all original examples in the world and would be an ideal template for somebody restoring one. – There are myriad reasons for a car to sit for half a century but one of the less attractive ones probably applies in this case: no one cared. It is in any event a remarkable survivor, although probably not destined to end up on the lawn at Pebble Beach in the Preservation Class. It is what it is, and it brought a generous price for that.
1973 BMW 2002 2-Dr. Sedan
Lot # 340 1973 BMW 2002 2-Dr. Sedan; S/N 2589578; Fjord Blue/Black vinyl; Visually maintained, largely original, 3 condition; Hammered Sold at $15,500 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $17,050. No Reserve – Bridgestone tires, later Kenwood stereo. Bridgestone tires, later Kenwood stereo. – One repaint as well as new seats and steering wheel in 2013, but otherwise original. Bumpers are dull but presentable. Big chip in the right front fender. Lightly scratched up brightwork pretty much throughout. Surface rust underneath and on the rear brake drums. Doors stick out at the bottom. Numerous cracks in the dash and worn door panels, but very good replacement front seat upholstery and steering wheel. Nothing special but a solid driver. – This is really quite expensive for a driver quality single carb 2002, even with the desirable circular taillights.
1948 Studebaker Commander Land Cruiser 4-Dr. Sedan
Lot # 343 1948 Studebaker Commander Land Cruiser 4-Dr. Sedan; S/N 4352952; Green/Beige cloth; Older restoration, 2 condition; Hammered Sold at $14,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $15,400. No Reserve – Wheel covers, whitewalls, AM radio, cloth interior, wood dash, column-shift 4-speed. Wheel covers, whitewalls, AM radio, cloth interior, wood dash, column-shift 4-speed. – Older repaint sill shows well and has no chips but could use polishing. Chrome and brightwork are very good. Interior is very good. Engine bay is well and correctly restored, as is the chassis that shows light road wear. An older restoration still showing quite well. – The postwar Studebaker market is an easy one to monitor, as prices have been steady for more than a decade. This was spot on the money for a well done older restoration. Buyer preference may be shifting to newer cars, but this one will likely gain more attention going down the road than a $15,000 ride from the 1990s.
1971 Fiat 850 Sport Coupe, Body by Bertone
Lot # 350 1971 Fiat 850 Sport Coupe, Body by Bertone; S/N 85512; Red/Black vinyl; Enthusiast restoration, 2- condition; Hammered Sold at $16,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $17,600. No Reserve – Hub caps, all season tires, woodrim steering wheel. Hub caps, all season tires, woodrim steering wheel. – Recent service at Classic Showcase. Fiat badge is crooked. Decent repaint with masking issues around some of the trim pieces and cracking around the right rear marker lens. Newer seat upholstery but sound original interior, although the dash top is dry and lightly cracking. Undercoated chassis. Represented as largely original, but it’s gotten significant budget restoration work. Still an attractive and unusual little sports car. – Sold at Auburn Fall last September for $9,350 and has been freshened a little since then although not enough to make up for the near doubling of the price. This is a strong retail result for a Fiat with plentiful issues.
1976 Triumph TR6 Convertible
Lot # 356 1976 Triumph TR6 Convertible; S/N CF53370U; White/Blue vinyl; Black vinyl top; Enthusiast restoration, 2- condition; Hammered Sold at $18,500 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $20,350. No Reserve – Red line tires, Panasport wheels, power brakes, aftermarket radio, optional factory hard top, Moto-Lita steering wheel, luggage rack, blue vinyl boot cover, white tonneau cover. Red line tires, Panasport wheels, power brakes, aftermarket radio, optional factory hard top, Moto-Lita steering wheel, luggage rack, blue vinyl boot cover, white tonneau cover. – Good professional repaint, but the finish has some orange peel. New chrome bumpers and what appears to be all new trim and stainless. Driver’s door has minor fit issues and does not close fully. Original seat upholstery and door panels. New carpet and top. Dash wood is overdone with a deep varnish. Engine bay is restored, very clean and well maintained. Heavily undercoated underbody metal, but well detailed differential, transmission and exhaust Never fully taken apart and restored, but it’s gotten everything it needed and was done to a reasonably high standard. – A strong but appropriate result for a safety bumper TR-6 in this condition, with an appropriate premium thrown in for the desirable factory hardtop.
1996 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra Convertible
Lot # 366 1996 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra Convertible; S/N 1FALP46V4TF178911; Black/Black leather; Black top; Unrestored original, 1 condition; Hammered Sold at $20,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $22,000. No Reserve – 281/305hp, fuel injection, 5-speed, AM/FM CD stereo, 17-inch aluminum wheels, fog lights, power windows, power driver’s seat, air conditioning, Traction-Lok, rear spoiler. 281/305hp, fuel injection, 5-speed, AM/FM CD stereo, 17-inch aluminum wheels, fog lights, power windows, power driver’s seat, air conditioning, Traction-Lok, rear spoiler. – Showing 375 miles and still in showroom condition. – 20 years ago, this car would have cost about $22,000, so treating it as collectible from new only paid off for one person here, and that’s the buyer.
1980 Triumph TR8 Convertible
Lot # 380 1980 Triumph TR8 Convertible; S/N TPVDV8AT213231; Silver/Black vinyl with Plaid inserts; Dark Blue vinyl top; Visually maintained, largely original, 2- condition; Hammered Sold at $14,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $15,400. No Reserve – Alloy wheels, Potenza tires, luggage rack, leather-wrapped steering wheel, cassette stereo. Alloy wheels, Potenza tires, luggage rack, leather-wrapped steering wheel, cassette stereo. – Recent service by Classic Showcase. Two big chips on the trunk lid and an inch long scratch on the left front fender but otherwise really good original paint. Very good original top. No rust underneath. Very good, lightly worn interior. Remarkably well kept and looks like a car with far fewer than the 52,403 miles it’s showing. – Sold at Fall Auburn in 2015 for $11,550. It’s only done 7 miles since then, according to the odometer. This result is more appropriate to the car’s solid condition and preservation and the seller made out well, although it seems he never got to enjoy the Triumph’s Rover V-8 power.
1966 Ford Mustang Convertible
Lot # 386 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible; S/N 6F08T367929; Black/Black vinyl; White top; Modified restoration, 3 condition; Hammered Sold at $25,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $27,500. No Reserve – 289/225hp, 4-speed, remote mirrors, factory chrome sport wheels, aftermarket AM/FM radio, bench seat. 289/225hp, 4-speed, remote mirrors, factory chrome sport wheels, aftermarket AM/FM radio, bench seat. – Originally a 6-cylinder car. Restored in 2005 and fitted with an appropriate 4-barrel 289. Well applied paint still looks very good. Shiny chrome bumpers. Stainless is original with some scratching and some minor pitting and patina on some pieces. Fully restored, new seat upholstery and carpet. Light oil seepage. Aftermarket plug wires and chrome air cleaner and valve covers. Undercoating on fender wells. Undercoated, new steering and suspension pieces. An older restoration done to standards appropriate to the car’s value. Its biggest strength is the fantastic paint. – A sound price for a pretty driver, with an appropriate discount for the replacement engine and age of the restoration.

1983 Ford Mustang Convertible
Lot # 400 1983 Ford Mustang Convertible; S/N 1FABP2730DF142826; White/White; White top; Unrestored original, 2- condition; Hammered Sold at $9,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $9,900. No Reserve – Painted aluminum wheels, tilt steering column, power steering, power brakes, power locks, power windows, power mirrors, air conditioning, power seats, cruise control, aftermarket stereo. Painted aluminum wheels, tilt steering column, power steering, power brakes, power locks, power windows, power mirrors, air conditioning, power seats, cruise control, aftermarket stereo. – All original. Showing 8,990 represented original miles. Well maintained original paint with only a few minor chips. Top is in good shape but could use a light cleaning. Original interior is well maintained with very light wear and some wear on the carpet. Clean, lightly run engine bay. Light road dirt but rust free underneath. Major service in 2015. – Part of the appeal of Fox-Body Mustangs is that they look so mundane but pack a 5.0 V-8 under the hood. With a V-6 and an auto, this car is just mundane inside and out, but that makes its barely used condition that much more special. This is strong money, almost all of it thanks to the low mileage and preservation.
1989 Ford Mustang 5.0 LX Hatchback
Lot # 400.3 1989 Ford Mustang 5.0 LX Hatchback; S/N 1FABP41E1KF233770; Cabernet Red/Scarlet Red cloth; Unrestored original, 2 condition; Hammered Sold at $65,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $71,500. No Reserve – 302/225hp, 5-speed, painted aluminum wheels, limited slip, power locks, power windows, power mirrors, air conditioning, power seats, cruise control. 302/225hp, 5-speed, painted aluminum wheels, limited slip, power locks, power windows, power mirrors, air conditioning, power seats, cruise control. – Showing 638 represented original miles. Original factory paint with no damage or scratches. Interior still has factory plastic covering. Engine bay is original and unrestored, with all original factory markings. No wear to speak of and pretty much like it came off the showroom floor. – Quite frankly, this is crazy money and over five times what this car would have cost new. It’s more than a new Shelby GT350R. The numerous low-mileage Fox-Body cars did very well in Scottsdale this year, and this is one wasn’t even the most expensive.
1990 Ford Mustang 5.0 LX Convertible
Lot # 400.5 1990 Ford Mustang 5.0 LX Convertible; S/N 1FACP44E2LF159132; Deep Emerald Green/White leather; White top; Unrestored original, 2 condition; Hammered Sold at $75,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $82,500. No Reserve – 302/225hp, automatic, aluminum wheels, limited slip, power locks, power windows, power mirrors, air conditioning, power seats, cruise control. 302/225hp, automatic, aluminum wheels, limited slip, power locks, power windows, power mirrors, air conditioning, power seats, cruise control. – Original paint with no damage or scratches. Interior is still covered in factory plastic. Showroom fresh engine bay. Showing 16 miles. Basically a new car. – There were some insane prices paid for Fox-Body Mustangs in Arizona this year, but this one takes the cake. This car was less than $15,000 when it was new 27 years ago and at Westworld it sold for about what would buy a brand new Z06 Corvette or make a healthy down payment on the new Ford GT.
1993 Ford Mustang 5.0 LX Convertible
Lot # 400.6 1993 Ford Mustang 5.0 LX Convertible; S/N 1FACP44E5PF205574; White/White leather; White top; Unrestored original, 2 condition; Hammered Sold at $40,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $44,000. No Reserve – 302/225hp, 5-speed, painted aluminum wheels, limited slip, power locks, power windows, power mirrors, air conditioning, leather interior, power seats, cruise control. 302/225hp, 5-speed, painted aluminum wheels, limited slip, power locks, power windows, power mirrors, air conditioning, leather interior, power seats, cruise control. – Showing 165 miles which are represented to be (and to all intents and purposes appear to be) from new and presents like a brand-new car. – Strong money and well over twice what it cost new, but this result is less shocking than some of the other low-mileage Fox-Body cars to sell here, although expensive for what it is.
1985 Ford Mustang SVO Hatchback
Lot # 400.7 1985 Ford Mustang SVO Hatchback; S/N 1FABP28T1FF158096; Red/Gray leather with Black inserts; Unrestored original, 2 condition; Hammered Sold at $58,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $63,800. No Reserve – Turbocharged 140 cubic inch four with 205hp, 5-speed, Goodyear Eagle tires, sunroof, tinted glass, power windows, air conditioning, cassette stereo. Turbocharged 140 cubic inch four with 205hp, 5-speed, Goodyear Eagle tires, sunroof, tinted glass, power windows, air conditioning, cassette stereo. – Showing 8 miles which are represented to be the mileage from new. Like new paint and underneath. Dealer decal still on the tail. Slight wrinkling to the seats. This is as close to going back in time to buy a new one as you’re going to get, and while a turbo four seems like sacrilege for a Mustang, the SVO made just 5hp less than the V-8 GT that year. – Mothballed, like-new 20-30 year old performance cars have been coming to auction more often recently, and they often sell for somewhere around their original MSRP, making you wonder what the point of sitting on a fun car for so long without using it would be. In the case of this car, though, all that time sitting really paid off. When it was new, the SVO came in at around $15,000 and even pretty good examples don’t really sell for any more than that, making this an absolute grand slam for the seller and a likely record price for an SVO Mustang.
1940 Oldsmobile Series 90 4-Dr. Sedan
Lot # 459 1940 Oldsmobile Series 90 4-Dr. Sedan; S/N L279020; Blue, Light Blue roof/Gray cloth; Recent restoration, 2+ condition; Hammered Sold at $31,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $34,100. No Reserve – Automatic, hub caps and trim rings, Firestone blackwalls, fender skirts, robe rail, radio, dash clock, wood dash and window trim. Automatic, hub caps and trim rings, Firestone blackwalls, fender skirts, robe rail, radio, dash clock, wood dash and window trim. – From the Charlie Thomas collection. Very good paint, chrome and interior. Spotless and fresh underneath. Restored recently and done to standards usually reserved for something more valuable. – The 1940 Oldsmobile was significant for the first year of GM’s Hydramatic automatic transmission. This impressively restored ’40 Olds commemorates that milestone and will make an impression at any pre-war car meet. Its price is much less than it would cost to restore it to this condition, although why anyone would restore it to this condition is a worthwhile question and it should be regarded as bought appropriately for its specification, body style and historical significance.
1959 Jaguar Mark IX Sedan
Lot # 512 1959 Jaguar Mark IX Sedan; S/N NC34588; Black, Silver/Gray leather; Visually maintained, largely original, 3+ condition; Hammered Sold at $37,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $40,700. No Reserve – 3781/220hp, automatic, hub caps and trim rings, Firestone whitewalls, Lucas driving lights, rear wheel spats, sunroof, column shift, wood, fold out tables in back with clock in the middle, power steering. 3781/220hp, automatic, hub caps and trim rings, Firestone whitewalls, Lucas driving lights, rear wheel spats, sunroof, column shift, wood, fold out tables in back with clock in the middle, power steering. – Two scuffs on the left rear fender. Lightly scratched front bumper. Some of the brightwork is lightly scratched up. Some deplating on the rear bumper. Sound original interior with good seats. Slightly tired but presentable wood and clean carpets. Original underneath but maintained and tidy. Rebuilt transmission. Not totally original, but has never gotten serious restoration work. An attractive car, but in no better than pretty driver condition. – Embarking on a restoration on this car would be a relatively straightforward process, but it wouldn’t be cheap, in part thanks to all that leather and wood trim. The new owner, who paid full retail here, will probably just enjoy it for the attractive driver that it is and enjoy a usable acquisition at a modest price.
1947 MG TC Roadster
Lot # 517 1947 MG TC Roadster; S/N TC2740; British Racing Green/Biscuit leather; Beige cloth top; Recent restoration, 1- condition; Hammered Sold at $28,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $30,800. No Reserve – Painted centerlock wire wheels, Dunlop tires, single Lucas driving light, badge bar, MG Motometer, two rear-mounted spares, beige cloth boot cover, banjo steering wheel, wood dash. Painted centerlock wire wheels, Dunlop tires, single Lucas driving light, badge bar, MG Motometer, two rear-mounted spares, beige cloth boot cover, banjo steering wheel, wood dash. – AACA awards. Show quality underneath. Spotless wheels, fresh tires. Excellent paint and brightwork. Light wear to the seats and discoloration on the boot cover are the only things that take away from a beautiful show quality TC. – This is barely more than driver quality TC money but it bought a showable example, so it’s a great value to the new owner who has tons of money left over for maintenance and other costs. The car could have brought another $20,000 without being particularly expensive.
1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 2-Dr. Hardtop
Lot # 535.1 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 2-Dr. Hardtop; S/N VC57L161369; Onyx Black/Red vinyl with Black cloth inserts; Older restoration, 2- condition; Hammered Sold at $50,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $55,000. No Reserve – 283/195hp, Powerglide, aftermarket air conditioning and radio, power steering, power brakes, spinner wheel covers, whitewalls. 283/195hp, Powerglide, aftermarket air conditioning and radio, power steering, power brakes, spinner wheel covers, whitewalls. – Good professional paint with minor chips on the nose and hood. New chrome bumpers and new brightwork. Excellent panel fit. Fully restored interior that looks great other than minor cracks in the steering wheel. Fully restored engine bay with signs of use. Fully restored painted chassis showing some light wear. New exhaust. A solid but not extraordinary older restoration of an ordinary ’57 Bel Air. – An attractive car that is well equipped for weekend cruises with power steering, brakes and air conditioning, let down by the 2-barrel 283. Both buyer and seller should be satisfied with this result.

Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2017 – Auction Report Page Three

1975 Triumph TR6 Convertible
Lot # 621.1 1975 Triumph TR6 Convertible; S/N CF30221U0; Java Green/Tobacco vinyl; Black vinyl top; Enthusiast restoration, 2- condition; Hammered Sold at $13,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $14,300. No Reserve – Hankook narrow whitewalls, overdrive, cassette stereo, leather-wrapped steering wheel. Hankook narrow whitewalls, overdrive, cassette stereo, leather-wrapped steering wheel. – Rebuilt carbs. New top. New ball joints. Very good repaint. Undercoated chassis. Gorgeous paint. Light track scratches on the windows. Very good chrome and brightwork. Very good newer seats. The rest of the interior is original but very good other than lightly worn switchgear and seat belt buckles. Driver’s side door doesn’t fit flush. All in all, this is a very strong car. Not the world’s best, but you’d have to do some searching to find a much better one. – Not a steal, but a pretty good buy for a safety bumper TR6 in a desirable high-impact color. It could have brought another three or four grand without being expensive.
1967 Pontiac Firebird Convertible
Lot # 667 1967 Pontiac Firebird Convertible; S/N 223677U118938; Red/Black vinyl; Black top; Cosmetic restoration, 2 condition; Hammered Sold at $24,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $26,400. No Reserve – Later replacement 350 engine, power steering, power brakes, power top, console clock, Rally II wheels, red line tires, remote mirror, luggage rack, Powerglide, PHS documents. Later replacement 350 engine, power steering, power brakes, power top, console clock, Rally II wheels, red line tires, remote mirror, luggage rack, Powerglide, PHS documents. – Good older repaint with several chips that have been touched up. New bumpers. Good brightwork. Very good newer top. Original interior upholstery and door panels. New carpets. Engine compartment is well restored to factory condition, all correct including R59 Delco Battery. Chassis is restored to like new condition. Metal coatings are correct with light wear and have factory like appearance. Never fully taken apart and restored, but a maintained long-time California car with new engine and major attention when necessary. – Early Firebirds are surprisingly affordable, and it wouldn’t be too much of a chore to locate a similar model with a correct motor and a 4-speed for similar money. This is a generous amount, all things considered.
1995 Acura NSX Coupe
Lot # 745 1995 Acura NSX Coupe; S/N JH4NA1182ST000174; Red/Black leather; Unrestored original, 2 condition; Hammered Sold at $45,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $49,500. No Reserve – Modular wheels, Pirelli tires, power windows, air conditioning, cassette stereo. Modular wheels, Pirelli tires, power windows, air conditioning, cassette stereo. – Showing 36,391 miles. Big scratch on the left rear fender. Good original paint, but it hasn’t been pampered. The finish is slightly tired and there are detail swirls. Light wear to the seats corresponding with the mileage. Relatively low mileage, and VTEC Hondas will go forever and ever. Essentially a well kept used car. – The NSX is one of those cars that never really got cheap. They depreciated, but not to the same degree that some of their 90s Japanese contemporaries did, which means that most examples out there are still in really good shape. Even though it’s well kept, this car is about average condition-wise compared to other examples out there and wound up being a pretty good buy. It could have brought above 50 grand without being expensive.
1965 Chevrolet El Camino Pickup
Lot # 795 1965 Chevrolet El Camino Pickup; S/N 136805Z156393; Tahitian Turquoise/Turquoise vinyl; Recent restoration, 2 condition; Hammered Sold at $39,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $42,900. No Reserve – L79 327, power brakes and steering, body color wheels and hubcaps, full gauge pack. L79 327, power brakes and steering, body color wheels and hubcaps, full gauge pack. – Represented as a matching numbers L79. Body-off restored. Excellent paint, bodywork and brightwork. Only the door frame trim is tarnished. The engine and underbody have been very well restored and the interior shows like new. An excellent restoration only let down by a couple hard to find trim pieces. – An impressive result, but then again vintage pickups and SUVs were some of the strongest consignments in Arizona this year. An L79 Elko is rare and this one was expertly presented, but don’t count on this price being repeated regularly.
1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 2-Dr. Hardtop
Lot # 796 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 2-Dr. Hardtop; S/N 138176Z135124; Aztec Bronze/Black vinyl; Recent restoration, 2 condition; Hammered Sold at $49,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $53,900. No Reserve – 396/325hp, power brakes and steering, M20 4-speed, 3.31 Positraction, Rally wheels, red line tires, bench seat, AM/FM radio, Protect-O-Plate. 396/325hp, power brakes and steering, M20 4-speed, 3.31 Positraction, Rally wheels, red line tires, bench seat, AM/FM radio, Protect-O-Plate. – Long-time Arizona car. Recently restored. Excellent paint, body and brightwork. All of the mechanicals are freshly restored as well as the interior. Recently completed and there is nothing to knock on this Chevelle except that it claims only a matching-numbers transmission, but not the engine. – While this is Chevelle SS 396 has a wonderful restoration its driveline and equipment are fairly ordinary while the price it brought anticipates a more powerful L34 under the hood, and the original L34 at that. It looked good on the podium, though, and that was apparently enough from the WestWorld bidders.
1970 Pontiac GTO Judge 2-Dr. Hardtop
Lot # 800 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge 2-Dr. Hardtop; S/N 2423701106415; Polar White, Judge graphics/Black vinyl; Older restoration, 3+ condition; Hammered Sold at $55,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $60,500. No Reserve – 400/366hp Ram Air III, automatic, power brakes and steering, Rally II wheels with Firestone Wide Oval tires, hood tach, bucket seats, console, AM radio. Comes with PHS and GM Vintage Vehicle Services documentation. 400/366hp Ram Air III, automatic, power brakes and steering, Rally II wheels with Firestone Wide Oval tires, hood tach, bucket seats, console, AM radio. Comes with PHS and GM Vintage Vehicle Services documentation. – Canadian market car. Restored in original colors. Good older paint with some deterioration along the drip rails. The Endura nose has some long cracks. The brightwork is in good condition and appears replaced. The engine compartment and underbody have been fully restored as well as the interior. A decent restoration although the cracked nose really lets it down. – This is more car than the money it brought, even taking into account the automatic. The new owner did well; the seller did okay.
1958 Austin-Healey 100/6 Roadster
Lot # 829 1958 Austin-Healey 100/6 Roadster; S/N BN4LS51409; Old English White, White hardtop/Black piped in White; Older restoration, 2- condition; Hammered Sold at $70,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $77,000. No Reserve – Centerlock wire wheels, Cooper tires, Lucas driving lights, hardtop and soft top, banjo steering wheel, heater, 3000 disc brakes up front, overdrive added. Centerlock wire wheels, Cooper tires, Lucas driving lights, hardtop and soft top, banjo steering wheel, heater, 3000 disc brakes up front, overdrive added. – Slight waviness to the rear bumper, imperfect masking on the hardtop. Otherwise, the paint and chrome look fantastic. Doors don’t fit right. Excellent like new interior. Pretty much spotless underneath. Restored in 2010. Mostly very high quality and gorgeous, but missed on a few details. – Sold at Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas from the collection of Tammy Allen last year for $48,400, a spot-on result. Allen bought it at B-J Las Vegas in 2010 for $66,000, which was overpaying, so the result here was definitely high. A great return on a short-term ownership for the seller. Austin-Healey fascination has moved away from the later 3000s and BJ8s to the earlier roadster bodied cars with this BN4 combining some of the features of both and it obviously had great appeal here today.
1960 Austin-Healey Sprite Mk I Bugeye Roadster
Lot # 856.2 1960 Austin-Healey Sprite Mk I Bugeye Roadster; S/N AN5L22187; Silver/Black vinyl; Older restoration, 2- condition; Hammered Sold at $30,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $33,000. No Reserve – Minator wheels, Michelin XZX tires, wind wings, added voltmeter, added cassette stereo, black vinyl boot cover. Minator wheels, Michelin XZX tires, wind wings, added voltmeter, added cassette stereo, black vinyl boot cover. – Blemish free paint, but uneven finish around the fender line on either side of the nose. Tiny dent in the right rear fender and a sizable scratch above it. Faded original shift knob. Otherwise very good restored interior. Body-off restored to high standards, but there are a few flaws that keep it from being a great car and instead is just a very good one. – After a notable surge, Bugeye prices have softened slightly, but it’s always going to be a car that offers more character per dollar than performance. At least two people really, really wanted this car and bid it to a price that would normally buy one of the best over-restored Bugeyes in the world, which this car just isn’t. Great day for the seller.
1953 Hudson Hornet 2-Dr. Sedan
Lot # 973 1953 Hudson Hornet 2-Dr. Sedan; S/N 7C218712; Green, Light Green roof/Green cloth; Visually maintained, largely original, 3+ condition; Hammered Sold at $30,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $33,000. No Reserve – 308 six with added Twin H intake, automatic, pushbutton radio, steel wheels, power steering, no rear skirts. 308 six with added Twin H intake, automatic, pushbutton radio, steel wheels, power steering, no rear skirts. – Good paint, chrome, interior and engine compartment. Clean unrestored underbody and chassis. Built up in the image of the Hornet race cars, not real, but done throughout to highly competent standards. – Sold here ten years ago for $59,400 and essentially observed now as it was then, this is a charismatic car – even if it is not as it was built – that offers multiple possibilities for its new owner. It’s a great value for an enthusiastic owner/driver.

1963 Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider Convertible
Lot # 993 1963 Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider Convertible; S/N AR375967; Red/Black leather piped in Red; Black cloth top; Recent restoration, 2- condition; Hammered Sold at $40,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $44,000. No Reserve – 1570/105hp, single Solex carb, 5-speed, hub caps, Vredestein tires, Nardi woodrim steering wheel. 1570/105hp, single Solex carb, 5-speed, hub caps, Vredestein tires, Nardi woodrim steering wheel. – Restored two years ago. Spotless restored engine bay. Grille trim doesn’t fit straight. The paint is fresh and has no issues. Very good new top and interior, but the original top frame looks a little worn out. Not a show car, but still very pretty. – Sold here two years ago for $66,000, which was still a somewhat modest result. It’s in essentially the same condition today, so the price here is a downright bargain for such a satisfying car. It deserves a lot more, but this can sometimes happen with a no reserve auction, even one as jam-packed as Barrett-Jackson. The Alfa buyers must have been elsewhere when it crossed the block fairly early on Friday and missed a very good value opportunity.
1970 Oldsmobile 4-4-2 Convertible
Lot # 1020 1970 Oldsmobile 4-4-2 Convertible; S/N 344670E163351; Matador Red, Black/White vinyl; White top; Recent restoration, 2+ condition; Hammered Sold at $50,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $55,000. No Reserve – 455/365hp, automatic, Tic-Toc-Tach, AM/FM radio, power windows, remote mirror, tilt steering column, Ram Air, power steering, power brakes, Rallye wheels. 455/365hp, automatic, Tic-Toc-Tach, AM/FM radio, power windows, remote mirror, tilt steering column, Ram Air, power steering, power brakes, Rallye wheels. – From the Charlie Thomas collection. Well applied paint over a completely disassembled body with no obvious flaws. Looks to be all factory sheet metal. Re-chromed bumpers, all stainless has been restored to factory quality. Very well detailed assembly with all correct gaskets. Appears to be all original upholstery. Well detailed dash with fresh chrome trim restoration. Well detailed restored engine bay with correct GM parts and high quality reproduction parts. Clean well restored, painted frame and correct coatings on suspension. Painted underbody, no rust proofing. A high quality body-off restoration in its original colors. – Sold at Barrett-Jackson in 2013 for $68,200, which was a modest but reasonable result at the time. This time around, Oldsmobile buyers must have had their eyes on other 4-4-2s at Westworld or elsewhere in Scottsdale, because this car just didn’t get very much attention. The buyer paid worn-out driver money for a relatively recent body-off restored car that has been carefully preserved in a major collection. It is an astute purchase.
1968 Dodge Coronet Super Bee Hemi 2-Dr. Hardtop
Lot # 1032.1 1968 Dodge Coronet Super Bee Hemi 2-Dr. Hardtop; S/N WM21J8G244328; Red/Black vinyl; Older restoration, 3+ condition; Hammered Sold at $75,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $82,500. No Reserve – 426/425hp Hemi, automatic Sure-Grip differential, Magnum 500 wheels with BFG Radial T/A Tires, AM radio. 426/425hp Hemi, automatic Sure-Grip differential, Magnum 500 wheels with BFG Radial T/A Tires, AM radio. – The paint has dulled slightly with age. The brightwork is in good condition and has a few minor scuffs on the front bumper. The engine appears to have been recently painted and the engine compartment detailed, the underbody indicates minor use since restoration as there is a little grime. The redone interior presents well and there is little to pick on. A good older restoration that you wouldn’t be afraid to drive. – Documented only with its original fender tag and an inspection report from Galen Govier, showing age and a little use as well as some recent detailing, it sold here in 2005 for $108,000 freshly restored and this result reflects the dozen years’ age as well as the current Hemi market. The odometer has added just 76 miles even though the car looks like it’s gone farther.
1964 Porsche 356C Coupe
Lot # 1034.1 1964 Porsche 356C Coupe; S/N 220321; Red/Black; Visually maintained, largely original, 2- condition; Hammered Sold at $59,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $64,900. No Reserve – 1582/75hp, hub caps, VDO dash clock, Blaupunkt AM/FM, Lucas driving lights, tools, owner’s manual, Porsche CofA. 1582/75hp, hub caps, VDO dash clock, Blaupunkt AM/FM, Lucas driving lights, tools, owner’s manual, Porsche CofA. – Represented as mostly original and matching numbers with one repaint. The paint is pretty good but no better than average quality. Tidy and original underneath. Very good original interior with a wavy dash top. Commendably well kept and consistently maintained late 356. – Sold by Leake in June last year for $63,800, and sold here for a nearly identical result. Both are perfectly appropriate for a well maintained but unremarkable 356 coupe.
1969 Chevrolet Nova SS 2-Dr. Hardtop
Lot # 1038.1 1969 Chevrolet Nova SS 2-Dr. Hardtop; S/N 114279W489760; Dusk Blue, Black vinyl roof/Black vinyl; Recent restoration, 2+ condition; Hammered Sold at $67,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $73,700. No Reserve – L78 396/375hp, 3.55 Positraction, M20 4-speed, power brakes, Rally wheels with red line tires, bucket seats, AM radio, console. L78 396/375hp, 3.55 Positraction, M20 4-speed, power brakes, Rally wheels with red line tires, bucket seats, AM radio, console. – Sold new in Maryland. Represented as matching numbers engine and gearbox. Body-off restored. Excellent paint and panel fit. The bumpers and brightwork all look new or redone. The engine and underbody have been completely redone and the interior has been completely restored. A beautiful restoration with nothing to fault. – An excellent car, but an even more excellent result. The price paid here was more in line with a similarly equipped Chevelle, although this Nova SS is more rare and lighter to get even more performance out of the L78 under the hood. A passion purchase indeed.
1969 Plymouth GTX Hemi 2-Dr. Hardtop
Lot # 1039.1 1969 Plymouth GTX Hemi 2-Dr. Hardtop; S/N RS23J9G133490; Spanish Gold/Black vinyl; Older restoration, 3+ condition; Hammered Sold at $85,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $93,500. No Reserve – 426/425 dual quad Hemi, automatic, 3.55 Sure-Grip axle, power steering, body color wheels with hubcaps, red line tires, bucket seats, console, tinted glass. 426/425 dual quad Hemi, automatic, 3.55 Sure-Grip axle, power steering, body color wheels with hubcaps, red line tires, bucket seats, console, tinted glass. – Restored in the 1990s and featured in a 1994 issue of Mopar Muscle magazine. Good older paint with few polishing marks. The brightwork has some minor fading from age. The engine compartment is clean and complete with only minor aging. The same can be said for the underbody. The interior is clean and indicates little use. A well kept old restoration. – A massive gold Hemi will never go unnoticed. This GTX had good history, but the color isn’t to everyone’s taste and this car is no longer fresh. A generous amount was paid, even considering how well muscle cars performed in Scottsdale this year.
1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 2-Dr. Hardtop
Lot # 1054 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 2-Dr. Hardtop; S/N 136370K173382; Shadow Gray, Black stripes/Black vinyl; Recent restoration, 2+ condition; Hammered Sold at $92,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $101,200. No Reserve – LS6 454/450hp, automatic, power brakes, 4.10 Positraction, SS wheels with Goodyear Polyglas tires, T3 headlamps, bench seat, column shift, AM radio, cowl induction hood, 6500 rpm tach. LS6 454/450hp, automatic, power brakes, 4.10 Positraction, SS wheels with Goodyear Polyglas tires, T3 headlamps, bench seat, column shift, AM radio, cowl induction hood, 6500 rpm tach. – 44 year single ownership, includes build sheet, notarized mileage statement from the original owner authenticating the 7,016 miles on the odometer, Jerry MacNeish certified. Stunning paint with no notable flaws. The rear bumpers and brightwork are all flawless. The mechanicals have all been restored to fanatical standards and the interior is unused. A fantastic restoration of a car that well deserves it and includes all the necessary verification. Dealer replacement engine block. – Legendary performance and a first class restoration combined to bring a definitely superior price for this LS6 Chevelle.
1970 Plymouth ’Cuda 2-Dr. Hardtop
Lot # 1067 1970 Plymouth ‘Cuda 2-Dr. Hardtop; S/N BS23V0E133478; Lime Light/Black vinyl; Recent restoration, 2 condition; Hammered Sold at $92,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $101,200. No Reserve – 440/390hp Six Barrel, 4-speed, shaker hood, 3.54 Track Pak axle, power brakes and steering, Rallye wheels with Goodyear Polyglas GT tires, hood pins, console, pistol grip shifter, AM radio. Comes with Dave Wise report. 440/390hp Six Barrel, 4-speed, shaker hood, 3.54 Track Pak axle, power brakes and steering, Rallye wheels with Goodyear Polyglas GT tires, hood pins, console, pistol grip shifter, AM radio. Comes with Dave Wise report. – Very good paint with a few small cracks on the driver’s side drip rail. Body lines are very straight. The brightwork is all new. The mechanicals and underbody have been restored to the tiniest detail. An excellent, fresh restoration with only fussy details to improve on. – Reported bid to $120,000 at Mecum’s Portland auction last June, if the no reserve result here is any indication it is an offer the seller should have taken if there was money for it anywhere in the state of Oregon. That would have been a home run. This is a reasonable result for both the buyer and the seller.
1971 Plymouth ’Cuda 2-Dr. Hardtop
Lot # 1071 1971 Plymouth ‘Cuda 2-Dr. Hardtop; S/N BS23V1B119067; Sassy Grass, Matte Black billboard stripes/Black leather; Recent restoration, 2+ condition; Hammered Sold at $92,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $101,200. No Reserve – 440/385hp Six Barrel, 4-speed, shaker hood, spoilers, console, Rally dash, power steering, power front disc brakes, pistol grip shifter, Govier report. 440/385hp Six Barrel, 4-speed, shaker hood, spoilers, console, Rally dash, power steering, power front disc brakes, pistol grip shifter, Govier report. – Excellent paint and body. The engine compartment and underbody have been redone to better than new standards and the interior is like new. A gorgeous restoration with an unusual color. – Sold for exactly the same result as the Lime Light ’70 brought four lots earlier. While it is unusual to see even such similar cars selling so consistently it does show that there is sufficient and consistent interest. That translates into consistent results.

1952 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Convertible
Lot # 1079.1 1952 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Convertible; S/N 529M23680; Maroon/Maroon leatherette; Black cloth top; Cosmetic restoration, 2- condition; Hammered Sold at $50,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $55,000. No Reserve – 303/160hp, automatic, pushbutton radio, skirts, wire wheel covers, wide whitewalls, power steering, power windows, fog lights. 303/160hp, automatic, pushbutton radio, skirts, wire wheel covers, wide whitewalls, power steering, power windows, fog lights. – Good recent paint on an older restoration, good chrome, top and interior. Underbody was restored like new but there is some overspray in the front wheel wells from the more recent exterior respray. – This is a solid, attractive, usable automobile of some distinction that seems to have had a good life of regular care and attention. It was recognized by the Barrett-Jackson bidders who paid an appropriate price for it.
1970 Mercury Cougar Eliminator 2-Dr. Hardtop
Lot # 1082 1970 Mercury Cougar Eliminator 2-Dr. Hardtop; S/N 0F91G511824; Competition Orange, Matte Black hood scoop and stripes/Black vinyl; Recent restoration, 2+ condition; Hammered Sold at $100,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $110,000. No Reserve – 302/300hp, 4-speed, 3.50 Traction Lok axle, power steering and brakes, Rally wheels with Goodyear Polyglas tires, AM radio. Includes Marti Report. 302/300hp, 4-speed, 3.50 Traction Lok axle, power steering and brakes, Rally wheels with Goodyear Polyglas tires, AM radio. Includes Marti Report. – Amazing paint and bodywork. The brightwork is all new. The mechanicals and underbody have been restored to extreme detail and the interior is unused. Freshly restored to the best quality. There is nothing to fault on this Eliminator. – The car is freshly restored to very high standards, but even so this price is massive for a 302 Eliminator, a car that very rarely cracks six figures. For reference, this is about what the equivalent Boss 302 Mustang would ordinarily expect to bring. An informed buyer in 1970 would have taken note that the G-Code Boss 302 engine in the Cougar was rated 300hp, 10hp more than the Mustang, probably just marketing fluff to justify the higher price of the Mercury, but it does confer some bragging rights.
1957 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible
Lot # 1097 1957 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible; S/N E57S103444; Venetian Red, Beige coves/Red vinyl; Beige vinyl top; Recent restoration, 2+ condition; Hammered Sold at $85,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $93,500. No Reserve – 283/270hp, dual quads, 4-speed, spinner wheel covers, wide whitewalls, WonderBar radio. 283/270hp, dual quads, 4-speed, spinner wheel covers, wide whitewalls, WonderBar radio. – Excellent paint, chrome, interior, top and gauges. Underbody is like new. Good panel fits and flat panels. – A gorgeous, freshly restored car that brought a price as superior as its presentation.
1967 Volkswagen Transporter (Van) Samba Microbus, 21-Window
Lot # 1103 1967 Volkswagen Transporter (Van) Samba Microbus, 21-Window; S/N 247040956; Black, White/Gray vinyl piped in White; Recent restoration, 1- condition; Hammered Sold at $130,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $143,000. No Reserve – Larger dual carb engine with 130hp, red steel wheels with hub caps and trim rings, whitewalls, dual mirrors, folding sunroof, roof rack, pushbutton radio, three-row seating, dash clock. Larger dual carb engine with 130hp, red steel wheels with hub caps and trim rings, whitewalls, dual mirrors, folding sunroof, roof rack, pushbutton radio, three-row seating, dash clock. – Two year restoration. Engine bay and underbody are show quality. Paint and interior are excellent apart from two small stains on one of the seats. Gaps are even. A few of the side windows have light scratches on them. Not perfect, but it’s been given a ton of high quality attention and could definitely be shown casually. And with more than twice the power it came with from the factory, it will even be able to get out of its own way. – While $143,000 is a huge price, 21-window Sambas routinely ring the bell at Barrett-Jackson for some reason. This was a superb example, presented with all the kit that gets bidders excited. Very few unmodified Sambas have sold for more, but even still this amount isn’t surprising. Whether or not it is worth this figure is another question.
1970 Oldsmobile 4-4-2 Convertible
Lot # 1110 1970 Oldsmobile 4-4-2 Convertible; S/N 344670M415061; Black, White stripes/Black vinyl; Black vinyl top; Recent restoration, 2+ condition; Hammered Sold at $105,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $115,500. No Reserve – 455/365hp, 4-speed, Ram Air hood, power steering and brakes, air conditioning, 3.42 limited slip, SS I wheels with Firestone Wide Oval tires, bucket seats and console, AM/FM radio, tilt steering column. 455/365hp, 4-speed, Ram Air hood, power steering and brakes, air conditioning, 3.42 limited slip, SS I wheels with Firestone Wide Oval tires, bucket seats and console, AM/FM radio, tilt steering column. – Body-off restored. The black paint is excellent and shined to a mirror like finish. All the brightwork is new. The engine compartment is fully restored and indicates only break-in use. The underbody is restored like new as well. The interior and top are all like new. A gorgeous fresh restoration. – It’s sort of refreshing to see a standard 1970 4-4-2 represented honestly, as most seem to end up morphing into some representation of a W-30 eventually. A gorgeous car, accurately valued, and fairly bought for both parties.
1969 Pontiac GTO Judge 2-Dr. Hardtop
Lot # 1132 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge 2-Dr. Hardtop; S/N 242379B159171; Carousel Red, Judge Graphics/Black vinyl; Recent restoration, 2+ condition; Hammered Sold at $72,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $79,200. No Reserve – Ram Air III 400/366hp, 4-speed, power steering and brakes, hood tach, Rally II wheels with red line tires, AM radio, bucket seats. Comes with PHS documents, Protect-o-Plate and the trunk has been signed by Arnie Beswick. Ram Air III 400/366hp, 4-speed, power steering and brakes, hood tach, Rally II wheels with red line tires, AM radio, bucket seats. Comes with PHS documents, Protect-o-Plate and the trunk has been signed by Arnie Beswick. – Represented as the matching numbers engine. Excellent paint and panel fit. The brightwork is all like new. The engine and underbody have been restored to high quality and the interior is unused. Recently restored and nothing to pick on anywhere. – This is an exceptionally well done, accurately presented and documented GTO Judge and it brought an appropriate price in today’s environment. Arnie ‘The Farmer’ Beswick seems to have no connection with this car, so why he signed the trunk is unclear, but it can’t hurt.
1958 Jaguar XK 150 Roadster
Lot # 1145 1958 Jaguar XK 150 Roadster; S/N S831231; Black/Black leather; Black vinyl top; Visually maintained, largely original, 3 condition; Hammered Sold at $67,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $73,700. No Reserve – Painted centerlock wire wheels, Coker Classic whitewalls, dual wing mirrors, hood ornament, Lucas driving lights, older aftermarket radio with speaker enclosure on the floors for occupants who have ears in the back of their knees…. Painted centerlock wire wheels, Coker Classic whitewalls, dual wing mirrors, hood ornament, Lucas driving lights, older aftermarket radio with speaker enclosure on the floors for occupants who have ears in the back of their knees…. – Represented as original other than newer carpets and old repaint. Showing 76,327 miles. Dull, tired old paint. Doors aren’t straight. Chrome is dull but ok. Left driving light is loose. Small dent in the right exhaust tip. Sound and dry but original underneath. Very good mostly original interior. Since it’s not all original and not all that rare or special, there’s no real point in trying to keep wear and patina. It would make a good candidate for a pretty easy restoration. – This honest but used old cosmetically re-done XK 150 can be driven as it is, which is good because the price it brought is too much to give it a restoration of any significance without going deeply underwater.
1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Fastback
Lot # 1154 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Fastback; S/N 0F05R140209; Grabber Orange, Matte Black hood stripe/Black vinyl; Recent restoration, 2+ condition; Hammered Sold at $90,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $99,000. No Reserve – 428/335hp Cobra Jet, shaker hood, 4-speed, Hurst T-handle shifter 3.0 Traction-Lok, power steering, power front disc brakes, pushbutton radio, Rally style wheel covers, F70-14 Polyglas tires, rear windows slats, wing, front spoiler, Marti Report documented. 428/335hp Cobra Jet, shaker hood, 4-speed, Hurst T-handle shifter 3.0 Traction-Lok, power steering, power front disc brakes, pushbutton radio, Rally style wheel covers, F70-14 Polyglas tires, rear windows slats, wing, front spoiler, Marti Report documented. – Excellent clearcoat paint, chrome and interior. Like new underneath. Deck lid stands a little proud but the other panels fit well. Freshly, done to high standards. Unfortunately it is characterized as ‘part-number and date-code correct’, not original or numbers matching. – Loaded with everything a modern driver could want except air conditioning, even the 3.0:1 rear axle adapts the torque of the big 428 to modern highway driving. It is a wonderful weekend cruiser, even better for long distance tours, and brought a superior price reflecting its many desirable attributes and a superior restoration.
1996 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Convertible
Lot # 1226 1996 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Convertible; S/N 1G1YY325XT5600997; Admiral Blue, White/Black leather; White vinyl top; Unrestored original, 2 condition; Hammered Sold at $46,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $50,600. No Reserve – LT4 350/330hp, 6-speed, black Grand Sport wheels, Goodyear Eagle tires, power windows, air conditioning, cassette stereo, power seats, cruise control. LT4 350/330hp, 6-speed, black Grand Sport wheels, Goodyear Eagle tires, power windows, air conditioning, cassette stereo, power seats, cruise control. – One of 190 GS convertibles, and this is reportedly the very last one. Clearly treated like a collectible from new and destined to receive the same treatment from now on. Represented with 950 miles. Like new and documented with the window sticker, owner’s manual and original keys. Only the battery was replaced. – An enormous price for a ’96 Corvette, but for a GS with under 1,000 miles it’s appropriate. Counting for inflation, though, it’s still less than this car would have cost new.

1968 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe

No Reserve – 427/390hp, 4-speed, 3.36 axle, turbine wheels, AM/FM radio, Positraction, tinted glass, copy of the original title, Protect-O-Plate, partial tank sticker and owner’s manual included. From the Rick Hendrick Collection. 427/390hp, 4-speed, 3.36 axle, turbine wheels, AM/FM radio, Positraction, tinted glass, copy of the original title, Protect-O-Plate, partial tank sticker and owner’s manual included. From the Rick Hendrick Collection. – Showing 622 original miles. All original. Old and fading paint. The passenger’s side T-top has a large scuff, and the top of the driver’s side quarter panel and passenger’s door have a few noticeable chips. The brightwork is mildly tarnished and the rear bumper has a few scuffs. The seals are dry and worn. The engine compartment is aged and has some patina as does the underbody, although the exhaust has been replaced. The interior is the best part and appears unused. An honest, original car that is appropriately conditioned for its age (but not its low mileage) – Sold by B-J at Palm Beach in 2014 for $99,000 and preserved since in its aged and weathered condition, the result here doesn’t show much movement by the Corvette Survivor market in three years.
1970 Buick GS 455 Stage I Convertible
Lot # 1293 1970 Buick GS 455 Stage I Convertible; S/N 446670H292998; Diplomat Blue/Pearl White; Recent restoration, 2+ condition; Hammered Sold at $85,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $93,500. No Reserve – Stage 1 455, power steering and brakes, limited slip differential, air conditioning, rally wheels with Goodyear Polyglas GT tires, bucket seats, console, power windows, AM/FM radio with 8-track player, tinted glass. Stage 1 455, power steering and brakes, limited slip differential, air conditioning, rally wheels with Goodyear Polyglas GT tires, bucket seats, console, power windows, AM/FM radio with 8-track player, tinted glass. – No representation of matching numbers. Excellent paint and body lines. The bumpers are new. All the brightwork is excellent. The engine compartment and underbody are fully restored and show minimal use. The interior appears unused since restoration. A beautifully restored and highly optioned Stage 1. – Not sold at Mecum Houston last year and 119 miles ago at a high bid of $160,000. This very good GS Stage I is worth a lot closer to that reported high bid than the no reserve result here, which is a bargain.

Ram Air IV 400/370hp (the block numbers are missing), 4-speed, power brakes and steering, 3.70 axle, Rally II wheels with red line tires, hide-away headlights, hood tach, vinyl roof, bucket seats, console, AM/FM radio, 8-track player, Hurst T-handle shifter. – Excellent new paint and graphics. Straight body panels and new brightwork. The engine compartment has been completely redone and it has minimal run time. The underbody is restoration fresh. The interior has been completely redone and is excellent. A fresh restoration with nearly no use appropriate to the 1 mile showing on its odometer. – An heroic price, even for a GTO Judge with such a good restoration. This should be enough to buy a convertible in similar condition.
1970 Chevrolet Nova Yenko Deuce 2-Dr. Hardtop
Lot # 1300 1970 Chevrolet Nova Yenko Deuce 2-Dr. Hardtop; S/N 114270W370745; Citrus Green, Black/Black vinyl; Recent restoration, 2+ condition; Hammered Sold at $100,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $110,000. No Reserve – 350/360hp replacement engine, power brakes, headers, M21 4-speed, F41 suspension, 4.10 Positraction, mag wheels with Firestone Wide Oval tires, bench seat, documented and includes NCRS Shipping Data Report. 350/360hp replacement engine, power brakes, headers, M21 4-speed, F41 suspension, 4.10 Positraction, mag wheels with Firestone Wide Oval tires, bench seat, documented and includes NCRS Shipping Data Report. – Exceptional paint and brightwork. The mechanicals and underbody have been painstakingly done and show almost no use at all. The interior is unused. Nothing to pick on beyond the use of exhaust upgrades on such a correctly done car. – Yenko Deuces have been somewhat overlooked. They’re well off their 2007 high and only slightly up from their 2009 trough, which makes them a promising purchase today. It is unlikely they will recapture their former glory, but they have started to show signs of life over the last six months. This price would appropriate if there was an original, or even date-code correct engine, but is generous for the modern GM replacement engine under the hood.
1968 Dodge Charger R/T Hemi 2-Dr. Hardtop
Lot # 1309 1968 Dodge Charger R/T Hemi 2-Dr. Hardtop; S/N XS29J8B179231; Silver, Black vinyl roof/Black vinyl; Recent restoration, 2 condition; Hammered Sold at $137,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $150,700. No Reserve – 426/425hp dual quad Hemi, 4-speed, dual circuit power brakes, 8-track, steel wheels, hubcaps, red line tires, documented with the original broadcast sheet, owner’s manual and Certicard. 426/425hp dual quad Hemi, 4-speed, dual circuit power brakes, 8-track, steel wheels, hubcaps, red line tires, documented with the original broadcast sheet, owner’s manual and Certicard. – Represented as the original engine, transmission and rear axle, purchased from the original owner in 2006 and represented to have 91,482 miles from new.. Very good paint in the original color, chrome, interior and vinyl roof. Restored like new and very nice with only a few miles since it was done. – The result here at Barrett-Jackson is no more, nor no less, than it deserved for its specifications, history, originality and excellent restoration. Mopar Hemis may have been soft recently but when a really good one like this shows up it gets collectors juices flowing.
2004 Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale Coupe, Body by Pininfarina
Lot # 1314 2004 Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale Coupe, Body by Pininfarina; S/N ZFFDU57A940138421; Yellow, Stripe/Black; Unrestored original, 2 condition; Hammered Sold at $170,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $187,000. No Reserve – Modular wheels, Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, race-tuned suspension, tinted glass, carbon brakes, Lexan quarter windows and engine cover. Modular wheels, Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, race-tuned suspension, tinted glass, carbon brakes, Lexan quarter windows and engine cover. – No paint blemishes. Interior looks new. It has 14,015 miles represented, but it certainly doesn’t look like those miles were spent ripping around a track. It still looks like a new car, and just got an annual service. – It is nothing but encouraging to see a Ferrari like this so assiduously maintained and lightly used. The bidders responded with a superior price well above the $95,700 it sold for at Barrett-Jackson’s Las Vegas sale in 2013 and the lowest price for the three 360 Challenge Stradales sold in the Arizona auctions.
1957 Jaguar XK 140MC Fixed Head Coupe
Lot # 1315.1 1957 Jaguar XK 140MC Fixed Head Coupe; S/N 5815909; Engine # G9509-8S; Black/Black; Recent restoration, 2+ condition; Hammered Sold at $90,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $99,000. No Reserve – Chrome wire wheels, blackwall tires, Kenwood CD stereo, fender mirrors, Lucas foglights. Chrome wire wheels, blackwall tires, Kenwood CD stereo, fender mirrors, Lucas foglights. – Excellent paint, chrome, upholstery and interior wood. Flat panels and flush fits. Underbody is like new. Original data plate; block and head numbers match. Show polished cam covers. Restored like new and then some. The sellers said their father took 20 years to restore it, even flying to Coventry to acquire NOS parts for the restoration. – Twenty year restorations usually show their weakness in the varied ages of different parts but this Jag is exceptional and can only be described as ‘fresh’ which is reflected in the price it brought, one that is fair both to the buyer and the sellers.
1951 Jaguar XK 120 Roadster
Lot # 1316 1951 Jaguar XK 120 Roadster; S/N 670636; Engine # W1424-8; Red/Black leather; Black Cloth top; Older restoration, 3+ condition; Hammered Sold at $68,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $74,800. No Reserve – Silver steel wheels, hubcaps, spats, fender mirrors, JDHT Certificate documented. Silver steel wheels, hubcaps, spats, fender mirrors, JDHT Certificate documented. – Original data plate with matching numbers block and head. Good older paint, chrome and interior. Chassis and underbody are restored, then driven and are road grimy but not disreputable. – A sound driver quality XK 120 that needs nothing to continue to be driven and enjoyed. An hour or two with a pressure washer would clean up the undercarriage and raise the car to a slightly higher level, particularly with some additional attention to carefully replacing any paint loss. It is a sound value at this price.
1967 Jaguar XKE SI 4.2 Roadster
Lot # 1317 1967 Jaguar XKE SI 4.2 Roadster; S/N 1E12977; Engine # 7E4721-9; Carmen Red/Black leather; Black cloth top; Recent restoration, 3+ condition; Hammered Sold at $105,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $115,500. No Reserve – Chrome wire wheels, red line tires, cassette stereo with Kenwood speakers, stainless steel headers and exhaust, electric radiator fans, Pertronix ignition, stainless steel calipers. Chrome wire wheels, red line tires, cassette stereo with Kenwood speakers, stainless steel headers and exhaust, electric radiator fans, Pertronix ignition, stainless steel calipers. – New data plate with an engine number (7E868419) that matches nothing, not even a Jaguar number. Clean and orderly engine compartment except for some rat’s nest wiring. Abundant body filler in both right fenders. Good paint, chrome and interior. Cracking behind the right door. Pretty but not encouraging. – This is an odd hodge-podge of updates, done and overlooked that escaped notice in the bidding and brought a price that is nothing but generous for what it is. Remorse is in the buyer’s future.

Lot # 1342 1957 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser Convertible Pace Car; S/N 57SL69378M; Cream/Cream, Brown vinyl; Cream vinyl top; Recent restoration, 2 condition; Hammered Sold at $100,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $110,000. Extremely good paint, chrome and interior. Engine compartment and chassis are better than new but not overdone. – Despite its twenty year old restoration this Turnpike Cruiser Pace Car has stood up well and received new cosmetics recently to keep it in near concours condition. The price it brought reflects the age of the underlying restoration, the quality of its refreshed paint and trim and the enthusiasm of the new owner.
1956 DeSoto Fireflite Convertible Indy 500 Pace Car
Lot # 1343 1956 DeSoto Fireflite Convertible Indy 500 Pace Car; S/N 50381587; Ivory, Gold accent/Gold vinyl, Brown cloth; Gold vinyl top; Recent restoration, 2+ condition; Hammered Sold at $135,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $148,500. No Reserve – 330/255hp, automatic, power steering, power brakes, signal seeking radio, HiWay Hifi, dual outside mirrors, gold wheel covers, wide whitewalls, power windows, dual rear antennas, steering wheel hub self-winding clock 330/255hp, automatic, power steering, power brakes, signal seeking radio, HiWay Hifi, dual outside mirrors, gold wheel covers, wide whitewalls, power windows, dual rear antennas, steering wheel hub self-winding clock – Excellent paint, chrome, interior, top and glass. Underbody is like new. A show quality restoration with the awards to prove it. – This price should have bought the best Fireflite Pace Car Convertible in the world, and if this isn’t that car it is so close as not to make any difference.
1923 Mercer Series 6 Sporting
Lot # 1360 1923 Mercer Series 6 Sporting; S/N 20239; Light Grey, Black fenders/Dark Red leather; Black cloth top; Older restoration, 3 condition; Hammered Sold at $90,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $99,000. No Reserve – Opening windshield, wind wings, Monogram drum headlights, Dark Red centerlock wire wheels, whitewall tires, dual rear-mounted spares. Opening windshield, wind wings, Monogram drum headlights, Dark Red centerlock wire wheels, whitewall tires, dual rear-mounted spares. – Sound old paint starting to crack and fade. Good upholstery and top. Fair nickel. Dirty, oily chassis and underbody. Aged but attractive older restoration by Harrah’s in decent touring condition. One of 16 Mercer Series 6s known of 153 believed built, ex-Harrah Collection and Joe Loecy. Documented with its Harrah’s Collection restoration file. – Sold for $82,500 at RM’s Hershey auction in 2015 where it showed the same 135 miles on the odometer as it did today. Something of a shadow of what Mercer had been, its bought-in Rochester six-cylinder engine and Brown & Lipe transmission belied the quality and performance that had made Mercer’s reputation. All that aside, it is an exceptionally sporting (which, after all, is the name Mercer gave its coachwork) and good performing automobile, even in this aged restoration’s condition. This is an inexpensive entry into ownership of one of America’s fabled marques. It is usable as it is, and probably too good to bother wasting money on making it more pretty. Just drive it.
1967 Porsche 911S Coupe
Lot # 1367 1967 Porsche 911S Coupe; S/N 306058; Engine # 960378; Irish Green/Brown vinyl, houndstooth cloth; Older restoration, 2- condition; Hammered Sold at $155,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $170,500. No Reserve – Weber carbs, 5-speed, power sunroof, driving lights, Becker Europa radio, Fuchs wheels. Weber carbs, 5-speed, power sunroof, driving lights, Becker Europa radio, Fuchs wheels. – New interior, good paint. New wiring. Honest engine compartment and underbody showing age. Sound body, even gaps, thin trim chrome on the passenger’s side. An honest driver with a freshened older restoration. – Last year in Scottsdale this 911S appeared in a row of 17 911 variants at Bonhams which seemed to foreshadow the demise of 911 values in a flood of supply. The result here however shows that with careful attention to presentation and function by Classic Showcase a superior result can be eked out even at a venue not usually seen as the place to bring early 911s. The final result of $155,000 hammer, less the seller’s commission, on the other hand is not much more than was paid a year ago; the year’s work is free even though the buyer paid $30,800 for it.
1969 Chevrolet Corvette L88 Coupe
Lot # 1369 1969 Chevrolet Corvette L88 Coupe; S/N 194379S718301; LeMans Blue/Black vinyl; Older restoration, 2+ condition; Not sold at Hammer bid of $600,000. With Reserve. – 427/340hp L88, 4-speed, J56 power brakes, smog pump, side exhausts, Rally wheels with hubcaps, trim rings and red line Tiger Paws. 427/340hp L88, 4-speed, J56 power brakes, smog pump, side exhausts, Rally wheels with hubcaps, trim rings and red line Tiger Paws. – Represented as 16,484 miles from new with the original engine, transmission and rear suspension. Restored like new with better clearcoat paint. 2013 NCRS Top Flight, Bloomington Gold and still show quality. – This is a thoroughly documented, meticulously restored, judged and maintained L88 Corvette that deserves to have brought a little more, although if I had sold at the reported high bid it wouldn’t have been a tragedy for the seller.
2005 Ford GT Coupe
Lot # 1373 2005 Ford GT Coupe; S/N 1FAFP90S05Y400862; Quicksilver, Black stripes/Black leather; Unrestored original, 2 condition; Hammered Sold at $272,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $299,200. No Reserve – Red calipers, lightweight wheels. Red calipers, lightweight wheels. – Unused and like new with 281 miles. – It is actually surprising that delivery miles Ford GTs like this are still floating $100,000 over their original list prices when pretty much every auction today has one or more to sell. Some day the realization will come to Ford GT owners that almost none of them have more than delivery miles, the market is saturated – especially since a new Ford GT is in the pipeline – and it’s time to take them out to be enjoyed on the road. It will be like the 17-year cicada cycle: suddenly the roads will be full of Ford GTs.
2015 Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, Body by Pininfarina
Lot # 1374 2015 Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, Body by Pininfarina; S/N ZFF74UFA1F0210532; White/Black leather, White stitching, SF shields, yellow calipers, carbon fiber dash.; Unrestored original, 2 condition; Hammered Sold at $300,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $330,000. No Reserve – All the toys including carbon fiber interior trim, white faced tach, rear camera, yellow calipers, SF shields, suspension lift system. All the toys including carbon fiber interior trim, white faced tach, rear camera, yellow calipers, SF shields, suspension lift system. – A new car with 964 miles and no visible evidence of any material wear or even use. – This is a modestly retail price for a fully equipped, low miles, like new F12. But why buy one if it’s going to be driven only 964 miles in three years? The result here is comparable with the F12’s $323,000 MSRP, before the options.
1964 Cheetah Coupe
Lot # 1376 1964 Cheetah Coupe; S/N U62065; Silver/Black, Red vinyl; Competition restoration, 2+ condition; Not sold at Hammer bid of $850,000. With Reserve. – L88 427, 4-speed, Hurst shifter, Firestone tires, Jones mechanical tach, two seats. L88 427, 4-speed, Hurst shifter, Firestone tires, Jones mechanical tach, two seats. – Excellent paint. Freshly restored to better than new condition it has a monstrous lump of 1968 L-88 spec Chevy V-8 under its foreshortened hood, a 427 big block that made all the well-known issues of driving a Cheetah – immense power and torque and a short 90 inch wheelbase, not to mention a cockpit heated to extreme temperatures by the front mid-mounted engine – even more intense. So what, who cares? It is a visceral, thumping, remarkably beautiful footnote on American road racing history in the 1960’s and this is purportedly the only one built by Thomas with the 427, for Hollywood Cadillac dealer Jack Goodman. – The price doesn’t bear any argument if only because it is the only one there is and there is nothing comparable. The seller now has the difficult task of finding a different avenue to convert it to cash, or the frankly appealing prospect of enjoying it for a few years on the show and historic racing circuit. Just put a driver with really quick hands in it if it goes on track.
1967 Pontiac Firebird Convertible
Lot # 1377 1967 Pontiac Firebird Convertible; S/N 223677U100001; Red/Red; Red top; Older restoration, 2 condition; Hammered Sold at $235,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $258,500. No Reserve – PMD hub caps, Goodyear Wide Tread tires, red vinyl boot cover, column shift, floor clock, Delco radio. PMD hub caps, Goodyear Wide Tread tires, red vinyl boot cover, column shift, floor clock, Delco radio. – Very good paint and brightwork. The interior is fully restored with new upholstery. Light pitting on the steering wheel. Engine bay is fully restored and correct. This the very first Firebird, offered as a combo with car #2, Lot 1377.1. They were never separated and were restored together, as covered on the Discovery Channel. In essentially the same condition as its counterpart, meaning it’s gotten the treatment it deserves without succumbing to over-restoration. – Sold as a pair with #1377.1 for $517,000 all in. These two were offered at Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas last year but not sold at high bids of $300,000 each. It’s a choice pair, but significant only to a diehard Firebird or first-of-its-kind collector. Vegas now looks like a missed opportunity.

1967 Pontiac Firebird Hardtop Coupe
Lot # 1377.1 1967 Pontiac Firebird Hardtop Coupe; S/N 223377U100002; Silver, Black vinyl roof/Black; Older restoration, 2+ condition; Hammered Sold at $235,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $258,500. No Reserve – Rally wheels, Goodyear Wide Tread tires, hood tach, Hurst shifter, console, factory radio, power windows, PHS documents, power brakes. Rally wheels, Goodyear Wide Tread tires, hood tach, Hurst shifter, console, factory radio, power windows, PHS documents, power brakes. – Excellent paint and body. The panel gaps are very good and the brightwork is all new. Excellent restored interior other than some light pitting on the original steering wheel. This is the first hardtop Firebird built and the second Firebird built, period. Offered in combination with car #1, Lot 1377. Apparently never separated from car #1 and their restoration was featured in two Discovery Channel programs. – Sold as a pair, see lot # 1377.

Chrome wire wheels, wide whitewalls, dual sidemounts with mirrors, Pilot-Rays, dual windshields, outside exhaust headpipes, black leather covered luggage trunk. – Unnumbered reproduction frame and LaGrande style body, bitsa engine with an original J-237 bellhousing. Very good paint, chrome, top and upholstery. 2002 CCCA National First Prize. A made up car, but a very attractive one. – Mix and Match Duesenbergs were commonplace fifty years ago but have become more rare in recent years as collectors and restorers have recovered frames, engines, transmissions, firewalls and bodies and reunited them in increasingly consistent presentations of their original appearance. This Model J remains as one of the mix and matches and it brought a price that is better suited to a consistent frame and driveline with reproduction coachwork, not this completely made-up car which sold for $363,000 at RM’s Amelia Island auction in 2011.
1930 Delage D8 C Cabriolet, Body by Chapron
Lot # 1379 1930 Delage D8 C Cabriolet, Body by Chapron; S/N 34738; Aubergine, Black fenders/Grey leather; Black cloth top; Concours restoration, 1 condition; Hammered Sold at $300,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $330,000. Helmet front fenders, airfoil running boards, maroon wire wheels, blackwall tires, leather covered luggage trunk, Marchal headlights, radiator stoneguard. – Excellent paint, chrome, top and barely used upholstery. A concours quality restoration that is extremely well maintained with fresh paint. – Dramatic cycle fendered coachwork with free-standing sidemounts and running boards that might look better with the top down, sold by RM at Amelia Island last year for $176,000 and found a new owner here at WestWorld for nearly double that price. It is a spectacular automobile with style and substance that needs nothing and even at this price is a substantial value.
1971 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Spider Conversion, Body by Straman
Lot # 1381 1971 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Spyder Conversion, Body by Straman; S/N 13941; Yellow/Beige leather; Beige cloth top; Cosmetic restoration, 3+ condition; Not sold at Hammer bid of $575,000. With Reserve. – Chrome spoke Borrani wire wheels, Pirelli P600 tires, Veglia air conditioning, CD stereo, power windows. Chrome spoke Borrani wire wheels, Pirelli P600 tires, Veglia air conditioning, CD stereo, power windows. – Excellent paint, inviting lightly stretched upholstery, bright lightly scuffed chrome. Old undercoat in the wheel wells. An attractive cosmetically restored driver. 20 years with the same owner, represented to have 80,591 miles from new and the original engine. – After spending a small fortune thirty years ago to make this coupe into a convertible the bidders at Barrett-Jackson judged it worth no more than the original coachwork, which is how it usually works.
1933 Auburn 12-161A Salon Phaeton Convertible Sedan, Body by Limousine Body Company
Lot # 1383 1933 Auburn 12-161A Salon Phaeton Convertible Sedan, Body by Limousine Body Company; S/N 1156; Burgundy, Red accent/Tan leather; Beige cloth top; Older restoration, 1- condition; Hammered Sold at $150,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $165,000. No Reserve – Chrome wire wheels, wide whitewalls, dual sidemounts with mirrors, metal luggage trunk, overdrive, A-C-D Category One Chrome wire wheels, wide whitewalls, dual sidemounts with mirrors, metal luggage trunk, overdrive, A-C-D Category One – Very good paint, chrome, interior and top. An older concours restoration with some storage dust in the difficult places that should detail to be very satisfying. – The buyers of this car gathered around it … and knew exactly n-o-t-h-i-n-g about what they’d bought. ‘Where was it built?’ they asked. The remarkable thing is that they actually got an exceptional older restoration of a correct, as-built, Auburn Twelve Phaeton Sedan for a remarkably reasonable price. Better lucky than informed, sometimes at least. This is a wonderful Auburn Twelve at a moderate price.
1933 Packard Super Eight 5-7 Passenger Touring
Lot # 1384 ; S/N 65012; Engine # 750406; Ivory, Copper fenders/Brown leather; Beige cloth top; Older restoration, 3- condition; Hammered Sold at $90,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $99,000. No Reserve – Ivory wire wheels, wide whitewalls, dual sidemounts with mirrors, dual spotlights, Trippe lights, Solar vee lens headlights, radiator stoneguard, wind wings, folding rear windshield with side extensions, luggage rack. Ivory wire wheels, wide whitewalls, dual sidemounts with mirrors, dual spotlights, Trippe lights, Solar vee lens headlights, radiator stoneguard, wind wings, folding rear windshield with side extensions, luggage rack. – Weak trim chrome, sound but visibly aged old paint. Dirty wheels and chassis. Old upholstery with a torn seam in the driver’s seat auction. A worn and tired old restoration in dated colors. – ‘Honest’ applies to this Packard with its dated colors and history of being a Packards International magazine cover car in 1969. It is a relic of car collecting long ago but still usable and even showable for what it is. Few will criticize it for its age or its dated colors, nor should it be subjected to anything more stringent than a mechanical servicing before being driven and enjoyed. It is an unusual value at this price.
1955 Ghia Gilda Streamline X
Lot # 1389.1 1955 Ghia Gilda Streamline X; S/N 9967; Silver, Orange / Blue, Blue-Grey cloth; Visually maintained, largely original, 2- condition; Not sold at Hammer bid of $750,000. With Reserve. – 70hp AirResearch single stage turbine power. 70hp AirResearch single stage turbine power. – Gilda was designed by Giovanni Savonuzzi of Ghia, commissioned by Chrysler’s Virgil Exner as a design and aerodynamic study. Built only as a nonfunctional styling model, it was reported sold at the Hershey Auction in 2001 from the Blackhawk Museum, The present owner, restorer and Pebble Beach judge Scott Grundfor, proceeded to do what Ghia hadn’t in 1955, make it run and drive. Previous owners establish its exceptional provenance and significance: the Henry Ford and Harrah’s in addition to Blackhawk. Mostly original with a little flaky chrome on the rear valence. Very good paint and interior. – This is one of the most significant styling exercises of the period, akin to Harley Earl’s Y-Job, and the fact that it now whispers across the auction block is an even more significant endorsement of the validity of the concept and execution. In today’s Gilda function has caught up with design with great adherence to originality, it just took fifty years for technology to catch up with Ghia’s concept and make it go. What’s it worth? Apparently more to the consignor than this bid and taking it home to be enjoyed is not an unpleasant prospect. It is a beautiful thing.
1960 Chevrolet CERV1 Monocots
Lot # 1390 1960 Chevrolet CERV1 Monocots; S/N P2152; Metallic Blue, White/Metallic Blue vinyl; Unrestored original, 3+ condition; Hammered Sold at $1,200,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $1,320,000. Yes Reserve – Woodrim steering wheel, drum brakes (inboard at the rear), 377 cubic inch aluminum engine, experimental Rochester fuel injection, 4-speed. Fully documented. Woodrim steering wheel, drum brakes (inboard at the rear), 377 cubic inch aluminum engine, experimental Rochester fuel injection, 4-speed. Fully documented. – The Chevrolet Engineering Research Vehicle was developed for Zora Arkus-Duntov to test a number of engineering and design concepts. Good older paint, some cracks in the fiberglass. Worn original upholstery with the impression of Zora’s backside in it. – Offered by RM at Monterey in 2015 where it was bid to a reported $800,000, CERV1 found a more receptive audience at WestWorld and brought this price appropriate to its history and preservation. It should go to the Corvette Museum.
1970 Plymouth ’Cuda Hemi Convertible
Lot # 1392 1970 Plymouth ‘Cuda Hemi Convertible; S/N BS27R0B159521; Black/Black vinyl; Black vinyl top; Older restoration, 2- condition; Not sold at Hammer bid of $1,600,000. With Reserve. – 426/425hp Hemi, automatic, AM-FM, heater, rally wheels, trim rings, Polyglas GT tires, Elastomeric nose, metallic silver shaker hood, dual outside mirrors, documented with the original fender tag and a partial broadcast sheet. 426/425hp Hemi, automatic, AM-FM, heater, rally wheels, trim rings, Polyglas GT tires, Elastomeric nose, metallic silver shaker hood, dual outside mirrors, documented with the original fender tag and a partial broadcast sheet. – The restoration shows a little age underneath but is still better than a week old car off the showroom floor. Raced extensively by Terry Earwood for Steve Bagwell, SS Eliminatory at the 1973 U.S. Nationals and multiple class winner. Date-coded and restamped replacement engine – Thoroughly documented and meticulously restored, this Hemi ‘Cuda was offered by Worldwide at Houston in 2011 where it was bid to $1,450,000. The result here takes into account the replacement engine, but also the excellent older restoration.

Lot # 1393 1963 Chevrolet Corvette FI Coupe Big Tank Z06; S/N 30837S109046; Sebring Silver/Black vinyl; Older restoration, 2 condition; Hammered Sold at $350,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $385,000. No Reserve – 327/360hp fuel injection, 4-speed, Z06, Big Tank, radio delete, 4.11 Positraction, off-road exhaust, power brakes, power windows, spinner wheel covers. 327/360hp fuel injection, 4-speed, Z06, Big Tank, radio delete, 4.11 Positraction, off-road exhaust, power brakes, power windows, spinner wheel covers. – January 2013 NCRS Top Flight, Bloomington Gold. Restored like new with terrific paint, chrome, interior, dash and gauges. No representation of the driveline’s originality. A little dusty but still a Corvette to own with pride. – Offered at Mecum’s Kissimmee auction three years ago where it was reported bid to $550,000, perhaps a piece of irrelevant history at this point but history the seller would have liked to see repeat itself. It didn’t and this is by any standard a very good value to the new owner for a Big Tank Z06.
2005 Porsche Carrera GT Convertible
Lot # 1396 2005 Porsche Carrera GT Convertible; S/N WP0CA29885L001207; Black/Black leather; Unrestored original, 2- condition; Hammered Sold at $560,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $616,000. No Reserve – Yellow calipers. Yellow calipers. – Good paint and interior showing no discernable wear. – There were three Carrera GTs in the Scottsdale auctions. This one had probably the highest mileage at 5,448 and brought the lowest, by a few thousand dollars, price which is consistent with other Carrera GT transactions and the fact that most of them have only delivery mileage.
1964 Aston Martin DB5 Coupe
Lot # 1397 1964 Aston Martin DB5 Coupe; S/N DB51466L; Black/Black leather; Cosmetic restoration, 2- condition; Hammered Sold at $1,350,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $1,485,000. Yes Reserve – 3995/282hp, 5-speed, chrome centerlock wire wheels, Avon tires, woodrim steering wheel, power windows, Motorola radio, Smiths dash clock, documented with the factory build sheet, BMIHT certificate, comes with its owner’s manual, tool roll, jack and wheel hammer. 3995/282hp, 5-speed, chrome centerlock wire wheels, Avon tires, woodrim steering wheel, power windows, Motorola radio, Smiths dash clock, documented with the factory build sheet, BMIHT certificate, comes with its owner’s manual, tool roll, jack and wheel hammer. – Delivered new in Paris but came to Southern California in 1968. Serviced and repainted in 2012. Formerly part of the Bob Pond collection. Good, shiny, sound paint and older chrome. Excellent upholstery. Scratches on the bezels and glass on some of the gauges. Straight bodywork and even gaps. Old undercoat in the wheel wells. An older cosmetic restoration that’s only showing a bit of age and doesn’t really need anything, even though it shows 90,549 miles. An ideal driver DB5. – Sold at RM’s Monterey auction in 2014 for $880,000, offered by Gooding at Pebble Beach in 2015 with a reported high bid of $1,000,000. It is a quality DB5 and this is a realistic price for it.
1968 Aston Martin DB6 Coupe
Lot # 1398 1968 Aston Martin DB6 Coupe; S/N DB63365L; Black/Black leather; Cosmetic restoration, 2- condition; Not sold at Hammer bid of $475,000. With Reserve. – Chrome wire wheels, 5-speed, power windows, documented with the original build sheet, comes with owner’s and workshop manuals. Chrome wire wheels, 5-speed, power windows, documented with the original build sheet, comes with owner’s and workshop manuals. – First owner was Heinrich Nordhoff, Chairman of VW. Good repaint and chrome, fresh interior that is barely used. Fresh chrome. Underbody is original and tidy. A fresh cosmetic redo to high standards of a highly original Aston. – Sold by RM at Monterey in 2005 for $90,750 and its condition has been notably improved since then, as has its bid, which was enough to have bought a Vantage in comparable condition and should have seen it off and away to a new home.
1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 Fastback
Lot # 1400 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 Fastback; S/N 9F02Z198914; Raven Black/Black vinyl; Older restoration, 2- condition; Hammered Sold at $350,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $385,000. Yes Reserve – KK #2044. 429/375hp, 4-speed, 3.91 Traction-Lok, power steering, power front disc brakes, console, pushbutton radio, Magnum wheels, Polyglas GT tires, documented with a Marti Report, build sheet, MSO and Kar Kraft statement. KK #2044. 429/375hp, 4-speed, 3.91 Traction-Lok, power steering, power front disc brakes, console, pushbutton radio, Magnum wheels, Polyglas GT tires, documented with a Marti Report, build sheet, MSO and Kar Kraft statement. – Reggie Jackson collection. Good paint, chrome, glass and interior. Underbody is older than the cosmetics and has a recent shot of chassis black to dress it up. – The result here is appropriate to this Boss 429’s configuration, colors and presentation but the unusually comprehensive documentation might have brought even a little more without being excessive. The new owner got a Boss 429 of unusual quality and provenance at a good price.
1969 Chevrolet Camaro COPO 2-Dr. Hardtop
Lot # 1419 1969 Chevrolet Camaro COPO 2-Dr. Hardtop; S/N 124379N649529; Hugger Orange, Black vinyl roof/White; Older restoration, 2 condition; Hammered Sold at $120,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $132,000. No Reserve – Numbers matching L72 427/425hp, 4-speed, power brakes, spoiler package, Rally wheels with Goodyear Polyglas tires, console with gauge pack, AM/FM radio, comes with Protect-O-Plate, dealer inspection sheet. Previously from the Reggie Jackson Collection. Numbers matching L72 427/425hp, 4-speed, power brakes, spoiler package, Rally wheels with Goodyear Polyglas tires, console with gauge pack, AM/FM radio, comes with Protect-O-Plate, dealer inspection sheet. Previously from the Reggie Jackson Collection. – Excellent paint finish and panel fit. The brightwork is all in new condition. The underbody shows negligible wear and the interior is spotless. A beautiful restoration with little to knock it on, although it wasn’t done yesterday. – Back in 2003 Kruse reported this COPO sold for $84,482 which was an outstanding price at the time. Its restoration is, except for some age-related issues, above reproach and the Reggie Jackson provenance helps, too. It could have brought quite a bit more than this without being expensive and is a lot of value at this price.
1973 Porsche 911S 2.4 Targa
Lot # 1424 1973 Porsche 911S 2.4 Targa; S/N 9113310296; Engine # 6330726; Gemini Blue/Blue vinyl, houndstooth cloth; Black leatherette roof panel top; Cosmetic restoration, 3+ condition; Hammered Sold at $185,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $203,500. No Reserve – Fuchs wheels, Pirelli P6000 tires, no radio, 5-speed. Fuchs wheels, Pirelli P6000 tires, no radio, 5-speed. – Good paint, chrome and interior. Underbody is unrestored and showing age. Orderly older engine compartment. Filled right rear fender. Decent panels and fits. An orderly but ordinary cosmetically restored driver. – RM sold this car here in Arizona five years ago in 2012 for $88,000 and the 911S market hasn’t been moribund since then, although this result is generous for this 911S’s condition. The car card calls it a ‘nut-and-bolt restoration’ but that doesn’t fit the way it appears today even though that’s what the buyer paid for.
1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SE Cabriolet
Lot # 1425 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SE Cabriolet; S/N 11102512004367; Tobacco Brown/Tan leather; Brown cloth top; Cosmetic restoration, 3+ condition; Hammered Sold at $125,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $137,500. No Reserve – Automatic, Behr A/C, Blaupunkt Tucson cassette, blackwall tires, Nardi woodrim steering wheel, P/W, fog lights, power windows. Automatic, Behr A/C, Blaupunkt Tucson cassette, blackwall tires, Nardi woodrim steering wheel, P/W, fog lights, power windows. – Good paint, chrome, interior and top. Scratched passenger’s window. Underbody painted over chipped old undercoat. Filled right door that closes a bit proud, other fits are good. The older upholstery is lightly soiled and surface creased. An attractive driver quality cosmetic restoration. – B-J sold this 6-cylinder 280SE Cab at Las Vegas in 2008 for $60,500. It brought an appropriately modest price here, helped by the attractive colors.
1986 Ferrari Testarossa Miami Vice Car, Body by Pininfarina
Lot # 1426 1986 Ferrari Testarossa Miami Vice Car, Body by Pininfarina; S/N ZFFSA17AXG0063631; White/Black leather; Unrestored original, 2- condition; Hammered Sold at $138,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $151,800. No Reserve – Alloy wheels, Goodyear tires, single mirror, locking filler cap, car phone, power windows, air conditioning, cruise control. Alloy wheels, Goodyear tires, single mirror, locking filler cap, car phone, power windows, air conditioning, cruise control. – Featured in Miami Vice and, less importantly, a Chris Brown/Pit Bull music video. The car card reads “possibly the most famous Ferrari in popular culture”. Stored from 1990 until 2015. Classiche certified and recent engine-out service. A few touched up scratches and cracks on the nose. Sizable blisters on and around the side strakes. Small blisters on passenger door. Fairly worn seats, otherwise excellent interior. Discoloration on the exhaust tips. You’d have to really like the show to pay much of a premium for this, but even without the screen time it’s a commendably preserved flying mirror Testarossa with 16,169 miles on the odometer. – After a few years in vogue Testarossas have settled down to generous but not outrageous prices for their style and performance. This result reflects little if any premium for its use by Crocket and Tubbs and is a sound value for the money. There were prior attempts to sell it for three or four times this much which are now irrelevant.

1977 Porsche 911/930 Turbo Coupe
Lot # 1427 1977 Porsche 911/930 Turbo Coupe; S/N 9307800095; Engine # 6870094; Silver Green metallic/Black vinyl, Green plaid inserts; Visually maintained, largely original, 3 condition; Hammered Sold at $165,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $181,500. No Reserve – 105,884 km. Black center Fuchs wheels, T/A tires, power sliding sunroof, Alpine cassette stereo. 105,884 km. Black center Fuchs wheels, T/A tires, power sliding sunroof, Alpine cassette stereo. – Fair repaint, crazed on the whale tail, worn original interior, orderly original engine compartment, road grimy underbody. Three owners from new and a quality but definitely used car. – The WestWorld bidders must have been encouraged by the history because they paid exceptionally generously for this car and its limited ownership and known miles history.
1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 2-Dr. Hardtop
Lot # 1430 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 2-Dr. Hardtop; S/N 136370B144642; Daytona Yellow, Black stripes/Parchment vinyl; Recent restoration, 2+ condition; Hammered Sold at $100,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $110,000. No Reserve – LS6 454/450hp, 4-speed, power steering, 4.10 Positraction, SS wheels with Firestone Wide Oval tires, bucket seats, console, cowl induction hood, AM radio with 8-Track player, COPO ordered Daytona Yellow color. LS6 454/450hp, 4-speed, power steering, 4.10 Positraction, SS wheels with Firestone Wide Oval tires, bucket seats, console, cowl induction hood, AM radio with 8-Track player, COPO ordered Daytona Yellow color. – Comes with build sheets. Restored and showing 160 test miles. Very good paint and brightwork. Good panel gaps and alignment other than the trunk lid that needs slight adjustment. The mechanicals and underbody are fully restored and have little use, as well as the interior. An excellent restoration with an unusual color. – Sold for $214,500 here in 2008, then $165,000 here in 2012. The result here is not an accurate representation of this car’s worth but rather an exceptional value in the aftermath of the frenzy during Saturday Prime Time. It could have brought much closer to its 2012 price and not been unreasonable. This is, simply, a great value for someone who stayed late.
1929 Ford Coddington Alumatub Hot Rod
Lot # 1434 1929 Ford Coddington Alumatub Hot Rod; S/N 29A00037; Brushed aluminum; Customized restoration, 1 condition; Hammered Sold at $120,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $132,000. No Reserve – 350 Chevy, three 2-barrel intake, Powerglide, quickchange rear, centerlock alloy wheels, lift-off roof. 350 Chevy, three 2-barrel intake, Powerglide, quickchange rear, centerlock alloy wheels, lift-off roof. – Built by Boyd Coddington with body by Marcel Delay, always a show car and still is. – Sold here in 2005 for $167,400, in 2015 for $187,000 and bought favorably with this result. It’s a piece of hot rodding and custom car history with its build documented on ‘American Hot Rod’ and universally recognized. It might look better with a radiator shell different from the downsized Model A shape (a track car nose, maybe), but this is how it is known and it would be close to sacreligious to change it.
1969 Chevrolet Camaro COPO 2-Dr. Hardtop
Lot # 1437 1969 Chevrolet Camaro COPO 2-Dr. Hardtop; S/N 124379N661202; Daytona Yellow/Black vinyl; Facsimile restoration, 2+ condition; Hammered Sold at $95,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $104,500. No Reserve – 427/425hp, 4-speed, power brakes, Goodyear Wide Tread GT tires, radio delete. 427/425hp, 4-speed, power brakes, Goodyear Wide Tread GT tires, radio delete. – Very good paint and brightwork. The panels are gapped well and straight. The engine compartment has been redone completely, although the paint on the engine is too thick to completely read the suffix code. The underbody has been completely restored as well as the interior. Represented with a real MN code COPO 427 block, but it wasn’t original to this car. Well restored and looks right, but not the real deal. – Nothing about the presentation of this car documents it as a COPO car from new, just that it has a correct COPO engine block. The bidders noticed the discrepancy but chose to overlook it for the most part and paid close to COPO money.
1970 Plymouth Road Runner Superbird 2-Dr. Hardtop
Lot # 1440 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Superbird 2-Dr. Hardtop; S/N RM23V0A166159; Lemon Twist, Black vinyl roof/Black vinyl; Visually maintained, largely original, 2 condition; Hammered Sold at $200,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $220,000. No Reserve – 440/390hp Six-Barrel, 4-speed, power brakes and steering, 3.54 Sure-Grip axle, Rallye wheels with Goodyear Polyglas GT tires, bucket seats, pistol grip shifter, AM radio, Govier visual inspection and report included. 440/390hp Six-Barrel, 4-speed, power brakes and steering, 3.54 Sure-Grip axle, Rallye wheels with Goodyear Polyglas GT tires, bucket seats, pistol grip shifter, AM radio, Govier visual inspection and report included. – Very good paint. The stainless trim has dulled with age. The engine compartment is in extremely good condition and looks unused. The underbody also looks factory fresh. The interior is in extremely good condition and aged appropriately for the miles. Billed as an original car with 21,177 miles and the matching numbers engine and transmission. – Sold by Kruse in May of 2003 for $97,520 and brought a remarkably superior price here. The equipment is marvelous, the color is eyeball-searing, the low miles and matching numbers are rare and the restoration is spectacular but this is by any standard ‘all the money’ for it.
1969 Dodge Charger 500 Hemi 2-Dr. Hardtop
Lot # 1441 1969 Dodge Charger 500 Hemi 2-Dr. Hardtop; S/N XX29J9B248656; Bright White, Black Bumblebee stripe/Black cloth; Older restoration, 2- condition; Hammered Sold at $92,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $101,200. No Reserve – 426/425hp dual quad Hemi, automatic, power steering and brakes, body color wheels with hubcaps and red line tires, bucket seats, headrests, power windows, tinted glass, console with floor shift, AM radio with 8-track player. 426/425hp dual quad Hemi, automatic, power steering and brakes, body color wheels with hubcaps and red line tires, bucket seats, headrests, power windows, tinted glass, console with floor shift, AM radio with 8-track player. – Represented as one of 392 Charger 500 coupes. In the Wellborn Musclecar Museum since 2004. Featured in a 2005 article in Muscle Car Review. Good old paint with some cracking on the drip rails. The brightwork is excellent throughout. The engine compartment shows minimal aging as does the underbody. The interior has been well kept since the restoration. An old restoration that has been exceptionally well kept. – Sold by Mecum at Kissimmee in 2015 for $145,800, then by B-J at Palm Beach three months later for $165,000, this Charger 500 has settled back to earth now and represents a lot of value for the money, especially with its unusually lavish equipment list.
1957 Chrysler 300C Convertible
Lot # 1442 1957 Chrysler 300C Convertible; S/N N571621; White/Tan leather; Black vinyl top; Older restoration, 2- condition; Hammered Sold at $95,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $104,500. No Reserve – 392/375hp, dual quads, automatic, wire wheel covers, whitewalls, dual mirrors, dual antennas, steering wheel clock by Benrus, pushbutton radio, pushbutton automatic, power windows. 392/375hp, dual quads, automatic, wire wheel covers, whitewalls, dual mirrors, dual antennas, steering wheel clock by Benrus, pushbutton radio, pushbutton automatic, power windows. – Restored, but the car card doesn’t offer up much info. Doors don’t fit flush. Spotless underneath. Very lightly worn seats. Fully restored interior, including gauges. Very slight waviness to the dash top. Very good paint and chrome. Eye-catching, great car let down by a handful of forgivable flaws. – The 300C is arguably the best looking of all Chrysler’s letter cars with a gaping eggcrate grille that looks ready to devour lesser cars, and in 1957 ‘lesser cars’ included just about anything else on the road. It could have brought at least a third more than this without being expensive and as such is a very good buy at this price.
1967 Chevrolet Corvette 427/435 Convertible
Lot # 1451 1967 Chevrolet Corvette 427/435 Convertible; S/N 194677S108985; Marina Blue, Black stinger/Black vinyl; Older restoration, 1- condition; Hammered Sold at $137,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $150,700. No Reserve – 427/435hp, 4-speed, original engine, carburetors are replacements although the originals are included in the sale, 4.11 Positraction, side exhaust, Rally wheels with red line tires, headrests, AM/FM radio. Tank sticker documented. 427/435hp, 4-speed, original engine, carburetors are replacements although the originals are included in the sale, 4.11 Positraction, side exhaust, Rally wheels with red line tires, headrests, AM/FM radio. Tank sticker documented. – Represented to be matching-numbers engine, transmission and rear end. Excellent paint and panel finish. The brightwork all shines like new. The engine compartment has been fully restored and much effort has been made to simulate correct overspray and factory assembly quality. The interior is like new and has no wear. A high quality restoration with high attention to detail and accuracy. Restoration finished in 2005 and in a museum from 2006-16. No word about NCRS or Bloomington Gold. – Sold at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale in 2006, fresh from restoration, for $210,600. Values for big-block mid-year Vettes are finally back up to their pre-Recession levels, so that 2006 result would be as appropriate today as it was then. After 10 years of static display, the car is basically in the same condition and could reasonably expect to bring the same kind of price. That’s not what happened, however, and the buyer got away with a pretty good bargain.
1957 Chevrolet Corvette FI Convertible
Lot # 1457 1957 Chevrolet Corvette FI Convertible; S/N E57S105128; Engine # F626EL; Black/Red vinyl; Black vinyl top; Recent restoration, 2+ condition; Hammered Sold at $85,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $93,500. No Reserve – 283/283hp, 4-speed, no radio or heater, spinner wheel covers, bias ply Firestone blackwall tires. 283/283hp, 4-speed, no radio or heater, spinner wheel covers, bias ply Firestone blackwall tires. – Very good paint, chrome and interior. Chassis and underbody were done like new but sat for a while and are a little aged and dusty. Engine compartment is thoroughly and sympathetically done in factory finishes and configuration. – It is routinely dusty in shops where restorations are done and sitting around for three years dust is bound to accumulate on the first-done assemblies. That is only a small knock on this exceptionally well done Fuelie’s restoration, however. The more significant issue is that nowhere does the seller represent the drivetrain as original although the chassis number is late enough for the 4-speed to be available. The bidders were justifiably skeptical, but even skepticism is insufficient to make this Corvette anything less than a great value at this price.
1960 Lincoln Continental Mk V Convertible
Lot # 1593 1960 Lincoln Continental Mk V Convertible; S/N 0Y85H413958; Light Blue/Light Blue, Dark Blue leather; White vinyl top; Visually maintained, largely original, 3 condition; Hammered Sold at $51,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $56,100. No Reserve – Wheel covers, whitewalls, parade boot, button tufted leather, fender skirts, Town & Country radio, power windows, power top, power front seat, power brakes, power steering, tinted glass. Wheel covers, whitewalls, parade boot, button tufted leather, fender skirts, Town & Country radio, power windows, power top, power front seat, power brakes, power steering, tinted glass. – Rebuilt engine, transmission, brakes and suspension. Dull and light pitting on original dash. Interior is otherwise very good. Good repaint. Chrome is good. Original but well kept underneath. Gaskets on the front bumperettes are dry and cracking. Maintained thoroughly and with major attention, but never restored. – Priced appropriately for its equipment, preservation and condition, this is one heck of a big, luxurious, showboat of an automobile in pleasing Sixties colors and materials.
