A very rare Shelby was profiled in the December 2013 issue of Vintage Roadcar (The Only One – 1967 Shelby GT 500 Convertible). It was the only 1967 G.T. 500 convertible ever built. At the time, it was believed to have been built as a prototype for the upcoming 1968 model. Brian Styles, and his team, undertook a careful restoration of the car returning it to how it looked in those advertisements for the ’68 convertible. Well, it turns out that this car was never actually a prototype, the story is much, much better. Styles tells us a bit more about himself, his muscle car collection and what it took to learn the full story of the only 1967 G.T. 500 Convertible.
Brian, you’re young, you’re retired, and you have a collection of some very significant muscle cars. How did you get here?
