Vintage Indy™ announced its 2021 event lineup today featuring three major appearances, consisting of dates at a road course, street course and an oval. All of the organization’s on track appearances will again be paced by the Johnny Lightning Special inspired Miles Ahead™ MINI John Cooper Works Hardtop driven by two-time Indianapolis 500 Winner Al Unser Jr.
The first stop for Vintage Indy™ will be a return of the iconic cars to Road America at Elkhart Lake, WI June 18-20 in companion with IndyCar® for the Rev Group Grand Prix. In 2020 the group featured cars at this premier road racing course spanning an amazing 70-plus years of Indianapolis car history and design.
July 24-25 will see a first-time appearance for Vintage Indy™ at the 39th Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, on Schenley Park race weekend, of the 10-day festival benefiting area charities in Pittsburgh, Pa. Vintage Indy™ will run exhibition laps on the scenic park street course, provide a historic paddock open to all fans in the shadow of the beautiful Phipps Conservatory and feature member cars on display at surrounding social events, such as the Passport to Elegance Jet Center Party and the Forbes Avenue of Speed Parade.
With the St. Louis Arch in the background, Vintage Indy™ will make its fourth annual pilgrimage August 19-21 to WWT Raceway in Madison, IL for IndyCar’s Bommarito 500. Multiple on-track sessions are planned for each day and all fans will once again have complimentary access with their admission to the legendary vintage paddock.
Founded in 2017 and a member of the Vintage Motorsports Council, Vintage Indy™ is dedicated to the history and preservation of Indianapolis championship cars.
