Briggs Swift Cunningham: one of the greatest racing figures, car engineers and team owners in America. Racing from the ’40s through the ’60s from supercharged MG-TC’s to Porsche 904s, and famous by the color of his racing cars, white with blue stripes, almost every great driver Cunningham had drive for him at one time in their careers. Long before Cobras, his cars were a threat here in the USA, South America and Europe.
These long-nose Jaguar D-types in this painting are depicted from the 1956 12-Hours of Sebring. This early morning shot has driver Mike Hawthorn’s #8 car, XKD605, in the foreground. You can always tell Hawthorn’s car by the four-spoke wood wheel he preferred.
