Tim Schenken at the wheel of a Brabham BT33 during the 1971 British GP at Silverstone. While put out of the race with gearbox problems, Schenken finished in 12th position, 63 laps down on eventual winner Jackie Stewart in the Tyrrell-Cosworth 003.

Interview: Tim Schenken

From an Austin A30 sedan to the wheel of a Formula One car is quite a journey. When growing up, Australian driver Tim Schenken had a burning passion to be a Formula One driver. It was this passion that proved successful with 34 Grand Prix starts and has kept him deeply involved in motorsport ever since. Australian contributor Patrick Quinn recently caught up with Schenken at the Bathurst racing circuit west of Sydney, Australia.

Many thanks for agreeing to speak with us, Tim. We have caught up with you at Bathurst circuit where the Bathurst 1000 race will be run in a couple of days. Why are you here when you live in Melbourne, almost a day’s drive away?
