Does the recent passing of a cornerstone in the Lotus community mark the end of an era?

Just as we were going to press with this issue, at the end of August, I was heart broken to learn of the passing of Lotus enthusiast Dave Bean. Over the course of the 25-plus years that I have known Dave, I have raced against him (I could never get even close to him except at the starting line), organized events with him, bought parts from him and did business with him, and in every one of those different situations, Dave always proved himself to be both the consummate enthusiast and gentleman. Dave’s story is the embodiment of all that is great in the last 40 years of the classic car hobby.
