A joint venture between enthusiast Martyn Corfield and restorer Trevor Farrington has turned back the clock 75 years with the launch of the Atalanta Sports Tourer which marks the revival of a design that was first shown to the public back in 1937. On hand for the unveiling at the Royal Automobile Club was Sir John Surtees who remarked, “It is nice to see that enthusiasts still exist and are willing to put their hearts and resources into such a project.”
In reviving the Atalanta, modern technology has been used to enhance performance and safety while preserving the classic prewar lines of its fabled progenitor. 85 percent of the components are unique to the car with the body hand-formed in aluminum over an ash coach built structure. Corfield explained, “Our aim is to reproduce the positive and enjoyable characteristics of vintage motoring in a reliable and usable manner that is relevant to today’s driving environment.”
