As the 2016 Rolex Motorsports Reunion rolls into history this weekend, celebrating the centennial of the Bavarian Motor Works, those in attendance will be treated to seven special historic BMW racecars presented by BMW USA Classic. These will join more than 60 privately entered examples of BMW artistry to illustrate the company’s heritage with vintage racecars ranging from the 328s of the 1930s to the Le Mans-winning V12 LMR of 1999 and beyond.
The seven special cars from BMW USA Classic include a 1970 2002ti Alpina, a 1975 3.0 CSL (above, photo courtesy of Mazda Raceway), a 1981 Group 4 M1, a BMW-powered 1996 McLaren F1 GTR, a 1998 E36 M3, the aforementioned V12 LMR from 1999 and a 2001 E46 M3 GTR.
They will be driven by a selection of current and former factory drivers—Bill Auberlen, John Edwards, Boris Said—journalists and BMW NA President and CEO Ludwig Willisch. For complete information please visit www.mazdaraceway.com
