Russo and Steele staged its 12th annual Sports and Muscle in Scottsdale auction on January 18-22, 2012 in Arizona, resulting in more than $20 million in sales and a 71% sell-through rate.
Russo and Steele offered more than 700 cars over five days in Arizona, with the top sale going to the 1968 Chevrolet Corvette L-88 Roadster that sold for a world-record $687,500. Other record auction results at the 2012 sale included the 1967 Ferrari 330 GTC at $429,000, the 1967 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible that brought $357,500, the 1937 Mercedes-Benz 230A for $159,500 and the 1971 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 Convertible that sold for $132,000.
The Russo and Steele Scottsdale 2012 auction saw the debut of improvements to the venue, including additional space for consignments, new asphalt and the Losberger main auction structure that holds the main auction block, vehicle staging, vendors and sponsors.
