Ferrari 166 Inter Berlinetta Coupe sold for $1,050,000

The Russo and Steele Monterey Auction 2013 was held August 15-17 in downtown Monterey, California, resulting in $7.1 million in total sales. The three-day auction saw approximately 10,000 people come through Russo’s waterfront venue at Fisherman’s Wharf.
More than 200 cars crossed the block in Russo’s ‘Auction in the Round’ format at the 13th annual Monterey sale, with the top sale going to the 1949 Ferrari 166 Inter Berlinetta that sold for $1,050,000. One of 37 166 Inter chassis built, chassis 037 S was the seventh of 10 bodied by Stabilimenti Farina when new.
Further notable results at the 2013 Russo and Steele Monterey Auction included the 1962 Shelby Cobra Roadster that sold for $850,000. The Shelby, chassis CSX2012, was the first Cobra ever sold to the public from Shelby American’s West Coast operations. Additional top sales included a 1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS at $247,500, a 1967 Shelby GT500 at $159,500 and a 1970 Shelby GT500 Fastback 428 SCJ that sold for $134,750.
