The 22nd annual Rodeo Drive Concours d’Elegance on Father’s Day drew more than 100 classic cars to the fabled street in Beverly Hills, California. With Alfa Romeo selected as the event’s honored marque, and one of Alfa’s brand-new 4C Coupes on display, it seemed fitting that Best of Show was awarded to Ray Scherr’s 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Short Chassis Touring Spyder.
“The Rodeo Drive Concours is a favorite Father’s Day tradition in Beverly Hills,” said Mayor Julian Gold. “It’s a day-long celebration of the finest automobiles in the world and a wonderful way for the entire family to celebrate their fathers in classic Beverly Hills style.”
The event theme of “Highways to Heaven” honored U.S. Route 66, Germany’s Autobahn and Italy’s Autostrade. Route 66 was one of the original highways within the U.S. Highway System, running nearly 2,500 miles from Chicago to Los Angeles, while Germany’s Autobahn is the controlled-access highway system in Germany that has no mandated speed limit for some classes of vehicles and Italy’s Autostrade is the Italian national motorways system.
“The annual Rodeo Drive Concours is one of those special events that appeals to everyone,” said concours committee chairman Bruce Meyer. “The combination of fashion, architecture, great cars and the best people watching makes it a unique tradition every Father’s Day.”
