The RM Sotheby’s Group is delighted to announce that the 16th annual Fort Lauderdale sale will return to the Florida coast at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center, April 6-7. 2018. The event will become a two-day auction featuring a curated selection of approximately 300 quality collector cars, ranging from American classics to European sports cars, muscle cars, hot rods, customs and modern collectibles.
Previously held under the Auctions America banner (the subsidiary was fully integrated into the RM Sotheby’s Group last month), the 2017 Fort Lauderdale sale generated an impressive $17.3 million total with bidders hailing from nearly all 50 states and 11 countries globally. Top sale was a beautifully restored 1963 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster at $1,200,000.
Early offerings for next year’s event are led by a single-owner 2006 Ford GT, chassis no. 401960 (above, photo courtesy of RM Sotheby’s), in exceptional, as-new condition with a mere 10.8 original miles on its odometer! Perhaps the most recognizable of American supercars, the GT on offer is finished in white and features three of the four options available on the model — racing stripes, painted brake calipers, and forged alloy BBS wheels. The GT is offered without reserve.
“We are thrilled to be returning to the Fort Lauderdale Convention Center for 2018, and look forward to growing the sale under the RM brand,” said Donnie Gould, Car Specialist, RM Sotheby’s Group. “The strength and global reach of the now larger RM Sotheby’s Group will allow us to bring an even higher quality and more diverse selection of vehicles to Fort Lauderdale, while simultaneously exposing a wider and more international network of clients to the event. The extremely low-mileage Ford GT is a fantastic fit and a great early highlight for the auction, and one that we are proud to be offering on behalf of its original owner.”
