The 2013 Quail Motorcycle Gathering will be held Saturday, May 4th on the grounds of the Quail Lodge Golf Club in Carmel, California. The 5th annual event celebrating motorcycling heritage and performance will feature special guest and racing legend Wayne Rainey.

Launched in 2009, the Quail Motorcycle Gathering honors both pre- and post-war eras of the finest sports and racing bikes, and is held each May at Carmel’s Quail Lodge and Golf Club, which reopened its hotel and unveiled a $28 million resort-wide renovation on March 26, 2013.

The Quail Motorcycle Gathering 2013 will celebrate its fifth anniversary by introducing the “Legends of the Sport” series, honoring one seminal figure in the sport each year. Wayne Rainey, a top World Championship 500cc Grand Prix rider who has three consecutive World Championships to his name, will be recognized this year. Rainey won his titles in 1990, 1991 and 1992 while riding for Yamaha. Rainey also won two U.S. Superbike Championships in 1983 and 1987.

Judged categories at this year’s event include 20th Anniversary of the Ducati Monster; Antique; Japanese; European; Competition; American; Off-Road; Custom/Modified and Superbike.

The weekend will kick-off on Friday, May 3, 2013 with the Quail Ride, a 100-mile motorcycle journey throughout the Monterey Peninsula featuring parade laps at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Participants will enjoy a gourmet lunch en route before returning to Quail Lodge and Golf Club for the Quail Motorcycle Dinner. Vintage and modern motorcycles are welcome to join the Ride.

The Quail Marketplace, a for-sale-by-owner event, also will take place at the Quail Motorcycle Gathering for its second year in 2013. The marketplace offers guests an opportunity to purchase directly from other motorsports enthusiasts.

Participation in the Quail Motorcycle Gathering as an entrant is $120, and includes two tickets, gourmet lunch, and an event gift bag. Tickets to the Quail Motorcycle Gathering are $65 per person ($15 for children 12 and under), and include a gourmet barbeque lunch, offerings from local wineries and breweries together with live musical entertainment.

Participation in the Quail Ride is $295, and includes a ticket to the Quail Motorcycle Gathering the following day, and a place to display your ‘Ride’ motorcycle on the event field as an entrant (Concours judging element is optional). This event is limited to 75 motorcycles.
