The Porsche Race Car Classic will be held at Quail Lodge in Carmel, California on October 16, 2011.
The Porsche Race Car Classic will feature Porsche cars from 1950-1965 and include purpose-built race cars and production cars with significant race history during that period. Cars from the Porsche AG Museum, Ingram Collection, Ranson Webster Collection, Dr. Julio Palmaz Collection and Seinfeld Collection are expected to visit the Monterey Peninsula for the event.
The Porsche Paddock will have about 150 cars including Gmünds, Glöcklers, 550s, 550As, 718s, 718/2s, 804s, 904s, 356 Coupes, Cabriloets, Speedsters, and Convertible Ds. In addition, there will be Elva Porsches, the Dreikantschabers and some special bodied cars. The Porsche Plaza will have about 50 cars, similar to the Paddock cars, and all historically significant.
In addition to the earlier Porsches, the Porsche Race Car Classic will be adding a select number of Porsche race cars post-1965, including 911, 908, 917, 934, 935, 936, 956 and other models.
The Porsche Race Car Classic will be a unique opportunity to take in the largest-ever gathering of vintage Porsche race cars while feasting on local gourmet specialties and sipping wine from leading vintners. Over 3,500 attendees are expected, including special honored guests and celebrities. Attendees will also receive commemorative gifts with their ticket purchase. Tickets are currently being sold at the price of $400 ($350 is tax deductable). This event is expected to be sold out.
Importantly, tickets or donations will help support much-needed funding for Lung Cancer research. All net proceeds will go directly to the UCSF Thoracic Oncology Program and the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation to aid in their fight to drive Lung Cancer off the planet.
