I was in the process of refining a column on supercharging, when Our Great And Glorious Leader (aka The Editor) dropped me a hint: Porsche is to be the feature marque at Monterey. The editor’s word is law and we minions have to obey, so when he hits his thumb with a hammer and lets out, “S**t!” we try to oblige. We dread him saying “F**k!” when we’re in a public place. I think he should at least settle the fines.
What the Editor did not know is that this columnist has been banned from having anything to do with Porsche. It goes back to the time when I received a press release from Porsche Great Britain Ltd. I had to reply, it was not just the factual errors, what got to me was the abuse of the noble apostrophe. Porsche (GB) employed a pr person who had not worked out the difference between “it’s” and “its”!
