I was in the process of refining a column on supercharging, when Our Great And Glorious Leader (aka The Editor) dropped me a hint: Porsche is to be the feature marque at Monterey. The editor’s word is law and we minions have to obey, so when he hits his thumb with a hammer and lets out, “S**t!” we try to oblige. We dread him saying “F**k!” when we’re in a public place. What the Editor did not know is that this columnist has been banned from having anything to do with Porsche. It goes back to the time when I received a press release from Porsche Great Britain Ltd. I had to reply, it was not just the factual errors, what got to me was the abuse of the noble apostrophe. Porsche (GB) employed a pr person who had not worked out the difference between “it’s” and “its”!
