On May 1st, 68 exotic racing and touring cars took part in the California Mille – a 4-day, 1119-mile rally across some of the most scenic roads in Northern California. Mille organizers were blessed with not only great weather, but also with surprisingly few mechanical problems.
Some of the many historic machines included several prewar Alfas, Bugattis, two Ferrari Testa Rossas, a Cunningham coupe and a collection of Jaguar D-Types, SS100s and XKs.
The weekend’s guest of honor was Italian racer Gino Munaron. Munaron kept the evening dinners entertaining with numerous stories of his days racing sports cars for Ferrari in the ’50s.
