This Labor Day weekend, the MG Vintage Racers will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their organization with their East Coast Focus Event at Lime Rock Park. Scheduled as part of Lime Rock’s 29th Historic Festival, September 2-5, the event will include an MG racers’ paddock area, special all-MG races, MG car club corrals and parade laps for street MGs as well as presenting the usual awards, the MG V8 Trophy, the Bill Parish “Master of Speed Deception” award and the Big Copper Bucket, the club’s spirit award.
The MG celebration will be joined on the weekend’s schedule by a local food festival, A Taste of Litchfield Hills, which will save everyone from going hungry with offerings of regional fare from a select group of nearby establishments.
Potential participants should know that the following weekend, September 8-11, Watkins Glen will host the U.S. Vintage Grand Prix, which features the MG Collier Cup race. This could help justify the expense of travel for those MG folk traveling from far away, as they can get two outings for essentially the cost of one.
