The Mecum Kansas City Spring 2016 auction was held March 11-12 at the Kansas City Convention Center in Kansas City, Missouri, resulting in $10,212,687 in total sales and a 72 percent sell-through rate. A total of 409 automobiles were purchased during the three-day auction, which saw a 15 percent increase in sales over last year’s Kansas City event.
A factory four-speed 1968 Shelby GT500KR Fastback sold for $210,000 to take top honors at Mecum’s 2016 Kansas City sale. The 428 Cobra Jet-equipped Shelby was followed by a 1,000-mile 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT Coupe (Lot S138.1) at $185,000 and a 1967 Shelby GT500 Fastback (Lot S120.1) at $170,000.
