Classic American Muscle Cars will headline Mecum Auctions’ third annual collector car sale in Denver, set for the Colorado Convention Center from July 20-22.
Headlining the consignments is a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 (above, David Newhart photo courtesy of Mecum Auctions) that is No. 30 of the just 69 ZL1s produced, and one of the few surviving examples with its original all-aluminum 427-cid ZL1 engine. The car was expertly restored in 2004 when the odometer showed just 8.4 miles, and remains in virtually perfect condition today — now showing only 328 original miles.
Other featured lots include a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle LS6, a yellow 1966 Corvette convertible that was bought new by Walter C. Davidson Jr., son of Harley-Davidson co-founder Walter Davidson, with a matching-numbers 327/300-hp engine and automatic transmission, a 1969 Camaro Resto Mod featuring a Ramjet 502-cid engine and a 700R4 automatic transmission, and a 1970 Pontiac GTO convertible with a 462/525-hp engine and GM Turbo 400 automatic transmission that has benefited from a frame-off restoration.
