The Legends of the Autobahn 2013 was held Friday, August 16th at the Rancho Canada Golf Club in Carmel Valley, California. The 4th annual all-German marque Concours saw several hundred Audi, BMW, Porsche and Mercedes-Benz entrants on the show field, making it one of the larger events of Monterey Classic Car Week.

Hosted by the BMW Car Club of America, Mercedes-Benz Club of America, Porsche Club of America and Audi Club of North America, this year’s all-German marque Concours d’Elegance brought together enthusiasts, owners and aficionados of distinctive German cars to view some of the finest marques in the world.

This year’s Legends featured a display from Audi that will include their legendary R-8 WSC race car, winner of the 2005 Le Mans 24 Hours endurance race. Porsche celebrated 50 years of the 911 with a display of classic 911s that included the Paris-Dakar 1984 Porsche 953 911, as well as historic 356s and all other Porsche models. The event also had a special display of Mercedes-Benz Pagoda and 600 models, along with other special classics from Stuttgart like the 300SL Gullwing and Roadster, while exhibited BMWs included Alpinas, 2002 Group C Rally, 315 Special, M1, 3.0 CS, 328s, Isettas and more.

Attendees to the one-day event not only enjoyed the Concours display, but also a car corral, vendors, gourmet food and the camaraderie of fellow automotive enthusiasts. Each German car club had their own respective parking corral and judging areas and conducted their own judging and awards ceremonies.

Best of Show at the 2013 Legends of the Autobahn was awarded to the 1967 Mercedes-Benz 250SL of Gary Jarvis, while the best Porsche was awarded to Bob Schoenherr’ 1971 Porsche 914/4, the top Audi was the 1986 Audi Sport Quattro of Dean Treadway and the 1985 BMW M635 CSI of Bob Newman took home the BMW prize. The People’s Choice award went to Timothy Hensley’s 1967 Porsche 911S that was hand painted by Phyllis Yes in 1985.
