I photographed this car during the 1997 Vintage Festival at Lime Rock Park. When my eyes came upon the car I knew immediately that I had to paint it. It was actually in full repose in a paddock next to the owner’s trailer.
Using B&W film really allowed me to paint the colors from memory, and additionally place the car in a pose or setting of my choosing. It’s simply not enough to photograph a special car. It needs to be given a SOUL. Thus, I tried to evoke an almost “dream like” sensation of speed and motion with this piece.
